Thanks. Photoshop CS5. I should whip up a tutorial. It's really pretty easy.

Thanks. I got a few good shots of some tropical flowers while on vacation. Flowers are so easy to shoot.

No theme. Just post up what you think looks good, and discuss.

Thinner than a wafer 100mm macro F5,1/60th and they were really close to each other.

Beats me, I just messed around with some random setting in Photoshop! I think I even screwed up and forgot to save the PSD file...

I remember bumping the saturation and vibrance quite a bit plus some clarity and black adjustments in Camera Raw, then playing with "Curves" in CS4E

The attached JPEG is straight off the camera for comparison, only resized (I was shooting with the "Vivid" setting in the D3) (bottom picture) I shoot RAW+JPEG, makes it easier to quickly review and delete the non-keepers (and there are usually A LOT of non-keepers...)

Tripod?
Nope, doing some weeding and found that Spring had arrived. Ran inside to get the camera and flash. You can see the halo from the flash and sunlight around the shell.
I think I was ~9" away. I wanted to get the full Monty insect porn.

Was just curious because of the slow shutter speed.
Full Monty....

that's the one thing i hate about the macro lens, you're too close to most things to get sufficient light in.

that's where i like the 7D, the remote flash triggering is nice with a small flash mounted soft box making for sufficient light for macro work.

unless you use the MR 14 flash, it helps out quite a bit. (used on the romancing bugs)

Lots of great shots lately. Keep it up everyone.

Here's bokeh that you can hardly see because of the blue-sky background, but it's shot at 700mm, wide open at f/5.6. If you look at the starling's tail you can see a dark object, which is another starling about four inches away. I was surprised that I got enough DOF for the bird and top of the post, but it worked:
