Average delivery time with individual paint
My dealership has an allocation for a 17 ZCP and I mentioned I wanted individual Atlantis Blue paint. I asked what the standard wait time was for the car to be delivered and they said on average about 6 weeks and maybe an extra 2 weeks due to the Atlantis Blue. I'm not quite sure I trust them on this. Is 8 weeks normal delivery for an individual car. To me it seems rather short as I've heard stories of people waiting 6 months for individual cars. Any input would be appreciated.

No, 6 to 8 weeks for non-individual to the east coast. Add 4 weeks for individual (at least, depending on what "individual" is being done.). Also "an allocation" does not mean it's an October build.

I would say 12-14 weeks from the allocation. That is the big piece though as to when they have their allocation because it could be a couple months from now.

If you want to throw in a Rear Differential issue, add 2 months.....
I am picking up my car on October 18th. My Euro Delivery date was July 20. The build was completed the first week of June. |

It's all a function of what allocation they have and the time it takes for the request to be approved. If they have a more or less immediate allocation, it will be pushed back once you request Individual configuration. Assuming they have one ready to go, I'd say more like 10-12 weeks in a perfect world.

Lots of truth here. First question is is what week is your allocation? If it's far enough in the future, then Individual paint can be easily scheduled and it would add about two weeks. If your allocation is too soon for them to fit into existing Individual schedules, the dealer will have to swap your current allocation for a later one. Then the question will become, when is a later allocation that they can swap with? Next month, two months? Due to an error and my first car was the incorrect color, my order took ten months. That's two allocations, two approval cycles, etc. The first one took six months, the second took four. I suspect four to five months is typical.

It's for an M3. Yeah I guess i really shouldn't be to concerned about delivery time since winter is right around the corner and I wouldn't be able to enjoy it much. It would make for a nice Christmas present to myself though haha.

Not to jack the OP's thread, but how many more weeks for a more "standard" individual color like Tanzanite over Amaro. OP wanted Atlantis Blue.
I'm in PA and typically when I order my BMWs it takes between 6-8 weeks.

Individual means adding 4-8 weeks.
My dealer had an allocation, and the car was ordered originally with Mineral Gray. It was scheduled to go into production week 31, which is the end of July, after I had ordered it on July 5th or something. My SA used Mineral Gray as a place holder because he was having difficulties getting approved for Atlantis blue, as well as other issues. After getting approval 3~4 days later, all seemed well for the week 31 build timeframe. My car eventually got pushed to week 39.. which is the end of September. I was stoked for a week 31 build, but individual paint alone added 4 weeks - which, I was told, was very lucky as it tends to add 6-8 weeks minimum. Either way, if you're not a patient person - I'd say tread carefully. Had I not already owned a Mineral Gray 335i, I would've just stuck to the original car and would be enjoying it by now for about a month or so! Individual orders really aren't for those that are impatient. Totally freakin' worth it though, Atlantis Blue is kickass I already got my painted front and rear reflectors, as well as the paddle shifters for it, and it looks amazing

I recently picked up a 2006 R53 John Cooper Works 6sp w/61k down in Baltimore and forgot just how much fun manual can be. When I get into the Jag, I'm left slightly (and I mean just a bit) deflated. So...I thought about a special manual M3 build, but I would need to take delivery by the end of the year b/c I'm too cheap to leave an extra $1k on the table with a certificate I received for attending one of those BMW Golf Events. Long story short, doesn't look like an Individual is in the works. I just inquired about a blk over silverstone M3 out in OH. If the stars align just right, I may be back sooner than expected! Congrats to you and Robbie regarding the 944. I want to see it. It's probably more road-worthy than my R53! Already at Ottos following some PPI discoveries!!!

I forgot to add above, and my apologizes to the OP for jacking his Thread, but how much over invoice are you guys hearing with the M3s. An infamous M dealer on these boards quoted $2500 over, my local dealer first tried $1800 over (with a slight MF bump--no thanks) and then came down to $1k over (but still with a MF bump--no thanks).
I know the M3 has lower availability than the M4 (i already had an M4 and want to try an M3 now), but what is a fair price over invoice this late in the game?

Perhaps the $1000 over with slight bump (equals about $200 over life of lease) isn't that bad--so $1200 over total. And of course no other crazy fees I'm also talking with a guy here who wants to transfer his 2016. And then I also have my eye on an '16 M2 at msrp in nj

When I ordered my car about 3 weeks ago, I was quoted week 40 for a standard color and week 47 for the Tanzanite blue I went with. I'm ok with the wait, not in any rush.

Ordered mine in late August (dealer had allocation next day), build just pushed from week 45 to week 48 so I'm thinking late January for delivery (around 5 months), my car will be Azurite Black / Cohiba Brown

You prompted me to call about mine, production still slated for week 46 for my Azurite Black build. Perhaps the Cohiba Brown is adding to the push back for yours?

Everything goes very sloooooooow at the end of the year. I don't think it'll be so long that you hit March, but it might be close.
