Quick question regarding red lights at a stop sign. Can we turn right on a red light after making a complete stop? Obviously, they don't have a no turn on red sign like we do back home. (Or do they) Some people beep at me and some don't lol. Bunch of impatient Germans lol. There are times when I think some roads a one way due to people parking in the same direction on both lanes and Bam! Coming head on with another car lol. I just shrug it off and give a peace sign. And don't get me started on freaking bus lanes.. impossible to know especially when it's pissing rain out. Sorry, just venting.. I miss the states.

during the paper work process, I got a little piece of paper basic information regarding popular EU countries visited and on the bottom it said no right turn on red except green arrow. I still see people taking rights but when I get to the front I just waited and no one honked at me.

Germany is the easiest country to drive from what I've experienced lol. don't come to Italy...

Awesome! I was looking for a hotel after our Sella Pass drive, and now will book this one! It looks fabulous.

Also your mountain pictures are amazing. What camera are you using? I need to get one for our trip (Oct 12-22).

NO! In Germany, there is NO right turn on Red. The only caveat is in some cities... the traffic light MIGHT have a green RIGHT turn light. And at some t-lights... you will see a metal green RIGHT arrow sign attached to the t-light. This means you MAY turn right on RED after stopping. But these signs are really rare. In General there is NO right turn on RED!

Even Germans don't really understand the metal green arrow on a red light. Many people think they don't need to come to a full stop. They DO! That's what this white sign says under the GREEN arrow.

Be careful running a red light is a big NO NO over here. Fines can be in the 400 euro range. It depends on how many seconds you ran the red light(even for turning at the intersection). Most intersections have cameras.

Also in Munich... most tunnels have speed cameras. Some of the latest versions don't even flash when they "catch" you. You just get the "bill" in the post a few weeks later.

One other thing about traffic lights... in the evenings after say 9pm most traffic lights will switch OFF. Then for traffic that has "the right of way" their side will see that the intersection light is OFF. For the cars coming from the side streets... they will have a FLASHING YELLOW! This means they must YIELD(and or Stop!) if traffic is coming from the main road. This is not how it works in the USA! Take note!!

Germany has something like 900 different traffic signs. Fortunately you only need to KNOW 600+ of them to pass your German driver's license! lol I'm not joking.

Here is a PDF with all the major traffic signs everyone should know(!) when visiting Germany. You can also take this US Army Europe practice test too...

Hey guys! Updated the latest list on the front page! Once again, anyone posting individual dates without copying the latest list is not being added manually by me. Follow the rules and copy/paste the list with you included!

On another note, the wait after ED is a killer but finally on a boat today! WOOHOO!

Just making sure, the posting of peoples ED trips in here, alright with everyone? Seems kind of off topic but as long as people are alright with it, I have nothing against it! Just want to make sure you guys are good!

Reading everyone else's progress is helping me get through the wait until my ED...and i'm sure it'll help pass the time once i'm back in the states waiting.

A week from today I'll be inbound to Munich

Hey Larry, this is Dayne, Brian Harrington's old roommate. We had met several years ago at Auto-x. I used to get rides in Brian's, Rachel's and Andy's cars all the time but never raced my own (335i convertible).

Congrats on the F8X, I'll be picking up my F83 about 2 months prior to you. I'll likely be doing PCD about the same time you pick up yours in Munich.

I'm at the lounge right now. There's also a TB on Silverstone F80 taking delivery- looks awesome. Mine's on the left - kind of tough to see. I'll post another photo when I can.

I'm back at the Bmw welt lounge, had some problems with my navi and its asking for a code. Hope they can fix it l.

PS. No I did not remove the USB drive, car was fine when I took it for a drive this am until I stopped at a rest spot In the highway . then it started asking for a code.

PPS. if this happens to anyone try holding the idrive button+radio mute/power button+eject cd until the idirive restarts. Or get out of the car, lock it and wait about 10 minutes (this last one fixed mine)

Hi Dayne, nice to see you here! Definitely a very small world. I am in London much of my time lately, and bump into people I know all the time!

Enjoy the F83, it should be a fun step up from the E93. If you see Brian, tell him that Larry says "what's up, beotch".
