New Alfa Romeo's

Here are two new Alfa Romeo's, the 159 Sportwagon and the Spider.
What do you think, would Alfa Romeo be able to compete in the USA with these cars (both 3.2 V6 260 hp, 159 AWD)?
I love the design of the cars, if the reliability was at a better level I would seriously consider this car.. What about you Americans?

And here some pics of the Brera and the 159 sedan:

Since the 75 and Alfa Spider(rwd) aren't in production anymore for a decade or so, Alfa Romeo for me only is racing heritage from a while(understatement)ago and memories

Buying a Nissan or Toyota gives you more of a driver's car anyway nowadays

I think they're beautiful, but I think they're FWD based AWD option like Audi.

Add the reliability and fact that they'd probably cost pretty close to BMW and I think they'd have a tough time in the states

Alfa should definately go back to RWD, but in the near future that won't happen with all the problems with Fiat..

I love Alfas, but at first glance, the shape of the rear window, and repetitive round light designs remind me a bit of mazda and honda s2000. is alfa still independent or part owned by GM or other make?

BMW keep saying they invented the sports sedan. Truth is, they didn't - Alfa Romeo did.

Are you refering to the Giulettas? ... didn't the 2002 come before that...

No, I was refering to the Giulia 1600, which was launched in 1962 (before the 2002). RWD, 5-spd, 170km/h top speed and a drag co. lower than the original 911, these cars were world's first sports sedan. The 2002 Turbo's equivalent, the 1600GTA made a whopping 108hp/L without forced induction, did the 0-60 in 8.8s and went on to 220km/h. All this before the 70's even came. They were also dominating in racing, until the bigger-engined Ford Capris and BMW CSLs came along. For the latter, BMW chose to hire the same Italian firm (Giugiaro) that designed the ARs. You can clearly see AR's influence on the CSL's rear end, especially the taillights.
