VW Arteon - looks nice
2018 Volkswagen Arteon
Looks pretty nice. I like it. Hood could have used a bit more work, but its ok. I really like the side and the booty. Thoughts? |

Spot on. I had a CC R-Line and it got really old really quickly. It's a great looking car, much like this Arteon, but the powertrains/drivetrains were boring.

It would have been nice it there was a rear wheel option.
The more I look at it the more I like it. Would this be a good replacement to the bmw E9x platform? |

Looks great especially from the rear. Hopefully they will bring out an R version as those power plants don't seem compelling to me. Would be a great option as a poor man's S7.

That's what it currently has. DSG is shit and nobody can change my mind.

E9x 335i runs circles around it in every aspect mentioned.

I'm really liking this too. In addition to my M3 we also have a modded VW CC that my wife drives and I occasionally drive.
The top model of the new Arteon drops the Vr6 for the 276hp turbo 4 from the Golf R20/ Audi S3 + the 4 motion awd/ quattro from those cars. However it has a 7spd DSG instead of the 6spd. So essentially a more stylish version of the R20 in a 5 door hatch/ coupe body. Furthermore I bet all the mods from the R20/ S3 will fit this so APR software + Downpipe should easily be good for 355 at the crank. That being said it is very tempting to sell our current CC and get this. However: - our CC is paid off... It's nice not having monthly car payments to worry about - I'm addicting to modding cars so our CC has the original turbo replaced by the K04 from that is found in the R20 plus supporting mods so its about 355 at the crank, R line body kit, Stoptech Trophy BBK, M factory LSD, Bilstein mono tube shocks all around (can't lower it since the wife drives it) so there is alot invested into it. - at 84,000 trouble free miles with it being modded since 15,000 miles it's been trouble free - I've done all the preventative things to it already as well (timing chain tensioner, upgraded rear main seal, Audi R8 red top coilpacks) so it should be good for another 100,000 miles - maintenanace is cheap on this compared to my M3... cost of replacing the engine on the CC if it ever does go is just a bit more than doing the rod bearings preventatively on the M3 So will see how tempting this will be... will likely wait till they have the plug in GTE version Last edited by PandaM3; 03-07-2017 at 05:15 PM.. |

If this is supposed to be a rival for the 4 series GC, I cant see BMW getting too worried.. No RWD and no 6 cyl engines.. And the 4GC is better looking...

I'm not really am feeling the Arteon. God help you IF you hit anything in the front!! And as far as VW's and Automatic trans go... VW has always been too cheap to pay for ZF trans so they always design and built their own A/T's only for them to blow up half way thru the warranty coverage. lol I'm done with VW's.

It's an update of a car that already exists.

Sure, I appreciate that. It's just that the UKs motoring press has headlined the Arteon as VWs rival to the BMW 4GC - which it clearly isn't going to be in reality, IMO

That's just shit reporting. It is possible VW could move it up a vehicle class but that would be pretty silly as the aforementioned competition in that space is stiff.
