...so the SW FL side is kinda insulated geographically from a direct hit of these storms - specifically the Sarasota and Tampa areas.

This is not to say these areas are not effected from them- but nothing like upper panhandle area along with LA or MS.

Yea Andrew was devastating. But don't forget we have had several storms lately. In 2004 and 2005 we had a bunch. If I'm not wrong we had 4 or 5 big ones. They were not nice. Wilma destroyed my roof!!! And it was cat 2-3!!! Well better than living in Los Angeles were its shaking every minute or in the tornado alley where you dint have time to hit a shelter or basement.

Don't forget Katrina!!! Most likely they will hit the east coast first but there are some that go around into the gulf.

Those 3 storms in '04 ran up the 'alley' into SC and NC. One little town near me had two 100 year floods within 7 days.

Unlike the 'flat lands' where water finds the lowest point and flow in that direction - floods in the mountains are especially challenging. The mountains actually channel the rivers that flood, so the water does not have an alternative but a couple directions.

Cali earthquakes are pretty much a non-event for MOST of the state when they happen. Most people in the state experience an earthquake and didn't even know one happened. If there is a bigger earthquake its usually something sudden and quick and you really didn't need to do anything and its over.

We have more eye candy here than the rest of the U.S. combined. Also if you want to bump the speed limiter of your M3. Best place to do it. What emmasions? I run careless and still get 27mpg on the hwy. beaches, babes and race track. Cheap housing and a good jobs market.

Hurricanes feed from difference in pressures and temperatures. Wind out in the ocean are faster and generate higher pressures which leads to these big circular motions called hurricanes. They get seeker as they go inland and eventually disappear. Hurricanes have been seen to weaken while crossing Florida and getting strength once the reach the gulf again. I'm not a meteorologist but that's the idea.
Bottom line is that they are big and strong. Is feels like being under a train for 4 or 6 hrs. The most scary part is when you start seeing things flying, trees falling and the rain going almost horizontal!!! The worst is when power goes. You are stuck inside a Haines, can't open the windows without AC and in the middle of summer!!!! Not nice. Hurricanes is a quite interesting event. Thanks for your interest. Google it or You tube it. It's really interesting. Earthquakes, tornados and hurricanes!!!!

Pretty awesome man.
Lots of exotics at meets, along with plenty of Bimmers that do modding and of course stanced cars and all that.

I was actually at a meet last night with at least 400 cars. It was huge!
Every Wednesday Night at Club Sakred in Boca.

Let me know when you plan on making the move, I'm a realtor, I'd love to help.

That's just springtime in the mountains. It's been that way long before weed became legal.

I don't even think you have to go that far. I think there is a huge difference just going from Miami to Ft Lauderdale to Boca to Boynton.

Personally I can't stand Miami, but I don't like people, and there's waaaaaay too many people in Miami. Doesn't matter what day I go or what time I go I am guaranteed to get stuck in traffic. I lived in Miami Beach for a few years and honestly I think its gotten worse and worse. I would only live there if I was single and didn't have to commute.

Boca is a little too hoidy toidy for me. So I like it here in Boynton with the greys. Easy commute to work, plenty of parking everywhere I go, cheap houses and only a few minutes to Delray if I feel I need a little more action.

I can't drive from home to the office without seeing a dozen or more modded cars.
