As noted before, weekly volume says no conviction to last weeks selloff...today was productive...bear flag pattern appears to be breaking up and forming bullish falling wedge pattern..."if" we clear 1175-80 we should see clear sailing to 1250-75 level....we need to jump the contracting wedge pattern though.

UUP just tagged the 200dma and needs to fall down asap...could be good for equities and metals....VIX showing topping pattern again which is bullish too.

But dont think bullish for too long cause imho, the bear is back on longer time frame.
I understand there's going to be resistance for the S&P at 1300 and support at 1100, but whats your opinion on seeing the S&P dip below 1100 for september?

If s&p breaks 1190 we ought to see a bull rally for a while.

we should see a mkt reaction around 1185 SPX or 1178-80 ES...what it does there will determine the action for next few wks...initial reaction should be a pullback but if we jump that level longs could be in business for awhile...if not we will cont to chop and whipsaw.

Multiple news sources are saying that the European Union could fall apart because of financial instability. What would be a good hedge against this? SLV, GLD, inverses to the DOWJ and S

If the euro collapses, yes gold and silver will be a good hedge.

if we close this week postive and above 1170...id say we go up for another week or 2...decent swing longs...afterall, this is the 3rd reversal attempt and effectively a W so more up is likely....but of course, WWIII could break out and we just go crashing down but thats a black swan..

Time to exit longs if you have any. Four straight days of gains in a volatile market means you'll pare these gains Friday.

Netflix got hammered. Any news out of Europe that might affect markets tomorrow? I don't know how to judge the markets short term...

I'm going to enter a butterfly put spread on Netflix. You should try it out...
What I'm doing is:
Buy to open October 165 strike puts
Sell to open October 150 strike puts
Buy to open October 135 strike puts.

And I'd have a ratio of 1 for the 165 puts, a 2 ratio for the 150 puts and a 1 ratio of the 135 puts. Hope I make me some money!

Gave the bear call on 9/8 before ES promptly fell 50 pts...then gave bullish warning(selling pressure should ease soon) on 9/9...went long at end of day on 9/9 at 1140 ES, ES now up 65 pts at 1205.

Any of you mofo's making any on here?....

S&P must break and hold 1235ish next week. If not, don't be optimistic. Hopefully when the fed releases their speech on Wednesday they will announce QE3.

S&P sitting at 1216 at the moment.

Monday Obama will introduce new tax hike. Wednesday the fed will introduce (possibly) "operational twist", and Friday there will be a 190 country attendance for the IMF and world bank annual meetings. Hrmmmm, so many places for the economy to tank or go up lol......
