Restored P-47G Thunderbolt -- the so-called "razorback" variant. Later models had a bubble canopy for improved visibility. This one painted up in 1944 markings with D-Day stripes.

New indigenously-developed/manufactured AT-5 advanced jet trainer/light fighter for the Republic of China (Taiwan) Air Force, which plans to buy 66 of these to replace F-5s. Powered by twin non-afterburning F124 turbofans. Probably not supersonic.

Is there any airplane more instantly recognizable than the Vought F4U Corsair?

Somewhat analogous to Taiwan's AIDC AT-5 (see above post) is the Korean Aircraft Industries' T-50 Golden Eagle, which is a supersonic advanced trainer and light combat aircraft developed in cooperation with Lockheed Martin. The T-50 looks a bit like a smaller F-16, understandable considering its origins. Instead of the more powerful F100 or F110 engine of the F-16, it is powered by a GE F404 afterburning turbofan. The F404 powers the F-18 Hornet and F-117 Nighthawk stealth jet, as well as the forthcoming USAF T-7A advanced trainer.
The Korean air force originally developed the T-50 to replace its advanced trainers and has bought more than 60 for that purpose. While consideration was given to a single-seat fighter version, the decision was made to produce all aircraft in two-seat form. Unlike Taiwan's AT-5, the T-50 and its TA-50 and FA-50 variants have found success in the export market: Indonesia, Iraq, the Philippines, Thailand, and Maylasia have all purchased versions. A major coup came in 2022 when Poland -- alarmed by the Russian invasion of neighbor Ukraine -- wanted to quickly augment the Polish Air Force and placed an order for 48. A number of other countries have expressed interest. The variants include the T-50 advanced trainer, the TA-50 lead-in fighter trainer and the FA-50 light combat aircraft. Most export customers have gone for the latter two versions.

F-35A test with an impressive weapons load -- six laser-guided bombs (four on wing pylons and two in the weapons bays), two AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles on wingtips and two AIM-120 AMRAAMs in the weapons bays. With an external load like this, the F-35 is not very stealthy, but is certainly deadly.

In 2020, this B-52H was pulled from storage in Arizona and refurbished for service to replace another B-52H. This unusual photo was taken on a test flight and before paint was applied and shows the metal skin well. The aircraft ended up assigned to Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota.

Not so defunct that our flight arrived early! Good onboard main cabin service btw.
No flight attendants screeching and shouting at you, combined with over-amplified PA announcements, like on Delta, American and United domestic flights. |

edit: Upon further review... Summary2023 BOEING 737-9 Fixed wing multi engine (48 seats / 2 engines) I wonder if this is like (MGM) Grand Air was; a 1st class only airline. I remember Grand Air (I don't remember the 3-letter identifier) had a 72 with something like 35 seats; $2K roundtrip, back in the day. They only flew LAX to JFK and back. It also seems to be a brand-new aircraft! Last edited by ezaircon4jc; 10-12-2023 at 07:03 PM.. |

An impressive lineup of Conair firefighting aircraft at Abbotsford, British Columbia; date unknown, though the presence of so many Douglas A-26 Invaders should date it somewhat.
(That's a LOT of radial piston engines!)
