The Rolls-Royce 40/50, popularly known as the Silver Ghost, was the car that firmly placed R-R near the pinnacle of the luxury car market. The model was produced from 1907 to 1925 (and until a year later at the U.S. factory in Springfield, Massachusetts) and was progressively improved. It also went to war with the British Army during the Great War (World War I).
This is a 1914 Silver Ghost with body by Frederick R. Ward of New York. The engine was a 7-liter inline six; the earliest cars had a 4-speed gearbox, then went to 3 speeds; from 1913 a newer 4-speed became standard. 6,173 of these cars were produced in the UK and another 1,703 were built in the U.S. at Springfield. One article on the 40/50 states that maintenance on a Silver Ghost is "lengthy, tedious and required frequently."

I might actually file this one under the "not cool" category: the world's longest limousine.
How would such a beast actually be driven on real roads?

By the turn of the century in 1900, electric vehicles had captured 38% of the automobile market. One of the EV companies was Baker, which had been founded in 1889.
Baker's Queen Victoria model had a range of 40 to 50 miles -- ideal for in-town.

Among the several companies blending European style with American muscle was Griffith. Their Intermeccanica-styled 600 coupe was designed for a Ford V-8 but the six examples produced had MOPAR 273 cubic-inch engines.
