Absolutely horrendous! It's not even the color either. Count me out if future BMWs look anything close to this

I like it and hope it forms the basis of a M2 CSL launched for the 100th anniversary.

It's an interesting concept car. It reflects out-of-the-box thinking, originality, creativity, skill and effort of BMW designers.

It may warp you out of your 'comfort zone', bother you, stir your thoughts, challenge you like a splinter in your mind.

Back in the day, the 3.0 CSL 'Batmobile' - to which this new concept car pays tribute - likely evoked similar instant feelings: "What have they done ?!". The rest is history.

De gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum. Each of us is perfectly entitled to like/dislike a design. Alike human relationships, one cannot be forced to love or like a person or object, but at least pay respect.

Yes, this concept car is unusual - yes it's peculiar. It may or may not be love or like at first sight for you, but at least give it the chance to reveal itself to you. Allow yourself to 'acclimatize' to the design, give it a fair chance to get accustomed to it. Don't feel threatened by it. Allow it to be processed and marinated inside your mind. To your surprise, it may get you second thoughts, thoughts of positive appreciation. Apart from sight, allow yourself to grasp the vision flaunted by BMW, for now and for future designs.

In other words, dear forum fellows, try to adopt an open-minded approach, even if you feel rather uncomfortable about it.

Unlike SCOTT26 I'm not affiliated with BMW. Feel free to gun me down for my point of view. This view ain't fueled by unreserved 'BMW fanboy-ism' - no, it's fueled by the willingness to give this concept car a fair chance, open-minded and with all due respect for the challenging creativity it captures.
@SCOTT26
We really appreciate your efforts in this thread but using words like "absolutely perfect" while the majority of members are extremely negative about the design seem to ignore their opinion. You need to be more diplomatic in your approach, neutral in delivering the concept of the design, while still being positive of course. we don't want you to loose popularity here

The comments by my fellow member Artemis seems perfect to me and made me think twice that the design is not that bad as a whole.

Just my 0.02

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. This would be a boring place if it was just BMW press releases.

Moreover, if this was a concept for a FWD volume BMW (active tourer or similar), then you could argue the enthusiast opinion represented by this forum is less relevant... but in this case, we are the niche, target market. Our collective opinion should matter more.

You'll recall that the i8 -also unconventional and a departure from existing BMW design language- was almost universally praised here (and in the press). This seems to evoke the opposite, but the response is no less relevant.

I'm trying to keep an open mind (I like certain elements), but the package, particularly the front, doesn't move me in the way I think it's meant to.

On that front end, if we weren't just told that we're looking at the future familial front end, I would be less concerned.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally a BMW worth the BMW badge. Now here is something that can be called good design, clearly inspired by Japanese futuristic and avant-garde design (reminds Toyota FT-1 with Civic wing) while keeping some distinct German traits. Really nice front with correct wheel-to-fender ratio, overall very harmonic and coherent lines. Love it. Unfortunately BMW has no balls and will never make anything even remotely close to it.

But one question: does it have transaxle transmission?

PS: Just read all the negative comments. Thanks to all of those, BMW builds boring cars. Just drive Audi if that is what you like.

It is a concept, so it's a little over the top to express the design intent but I like it.

The bucket seats are hot.

When the two best car brands join forces, something amazing could turn out. Looking forward to next Supra/Z5. But give it a dry sump engine and transaxle transmission, then it can wipe 911's @ss.

Being the owner of two of Nagashima's car designs and being that the E9 is probably one of my favorite designs BMW ever produced, this is a total fail.

Hey, everyone misses sometimes. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Something must be wrong. Why am I, the one who doesn't like any BMW currently in the showroom, the only one to like this concept car?

I maybe simply have superior taste.
