to me any bike without a fairing, is a naked bike (i.e SV650 or Monster, but not cruisers or choppers). but there are many people who define it differently.

a street fighter to me, is a sport bike that's stripped of all it's plastic and fixed up for hooligan street riding but also capable of doing everything a sport bike does on the street. in the past, guys would take crashed sport bikes and remove the broken parts, and fix them with other goodies on the cheap but usually wouldn't replace the fairings knowing they would be broken again. now bike companies are on the trend and good examples of street fighters from the factory bikes like the Triumph Street Triple and Ducati Street Fighter 848 which are loosely based on the Daytona and 848 Evo.

Buells are not street fighters imo, because they're not based on sport bikes and do not have sport bike engines.

What do you guys think of the HD Iron 883? My friend is selling one cheap and I kind of like it... heard it has a high balance though and doesn't corner well. Need to ride it one of these days I guess... Looks like this one:

I don't know your bike background or riding ability so I will just tell you if it was me. Too small of an engine. 883cc's is small for a cruiser. You will like it for a little bit......maybe a day and then you will want to trade up. Will also suck with someone on the back. 883cc might sound big for a sport bike but not a cruiser. It would be a good beginner though. You can do better.

Thanks for the reply... I was thinking the same thing... I just like how it looks more than anything. Still will probably end up getting a new S 1000 RR, hopefully sooner than later. Have to inch into the cruiser scene one of these days though...

I was much faster on the track with a 600 but I like the 1000 for the street. The S 1000 RR is a great bike but you can get the same out of a cheaper Honda Suzuki Kawasaki Yamaha bike. Most people will never use a bike to it's ability anyway. You gotta get what you want though regardless. Hell I'm even thinking of getting an 1199 and I am nowhere near being fast anymore.

Been riding street for about 8 years. Have only owned two bikes, a Ninja 650r, and an 08 CBR600rr. Been riding the track for two years and have all but stopped riding the street. I have ridden Jerez, Estoril, Aragon, and a few other less known tracks in Spain. Anyways, some pictures

Yes you can get speed out of any superbike out there but they all differ in riding experiences. I rode the 1199S for about 20 min few days ago, S1 is just biblical in comparison. Its so much easier and more comfortable to ride that its not even funny.

The 1199 is incredibly comfortable. I too rode one for about 20 minutes and it is way different than my 1198. They made the bars wider and rotated them up a bit. The bike is a beast. And it goes!

Definitely cannot complain about Rota. I had a lot of luck here. Showed up having never been to the track. Met up with a Seabee here that has been tracking for ten years or so. Eats, breathes, sleeps for the track. Dragged me out with him to Estoril where I wrecked my graffiti edition CBR, officially turning it into a track only bike. I have been hooked and broke ever since.

Also, he is friends with Colin Edwards. Attended my first GP event with a VIP Hospitality pass at Jerez last year. Been to three more since (Jerez, Estoril, Valencia, and Jerez this year). Jerez this year a bunch of us got drunk with Colin in his motor home....that dude is awesome. I hurt from laughing so hard.

It's been an awesome two years, will be rotating back end of this year. Will have my new 135i though so hopefully that will keep me entertained til I get back on the track with my bike.

If you can ever get there I highly recommend it. It is a motorcyclists dream.

My dad's rented 1200 GS and my rented 1200 Multi

US roads suck now
Did you hop on the GS at all? How did your dad like it? I am looking at picking one up but I haven't got a chance to check out the Multi yet. I am going to head out this weekend and talk to the dealer, but the GS was nice on the short test drive they let me have. Also, where did you rent from? I would love to go do a bike tour over there.
