The first thought that I had when hearing about the South Carolina F-35 bailout and missing plane was Artemis 's MiG-23 bailout post above. Hopefully it went out towards the open ocean.

It didn't take long for the meme factories to catch onto this one.....

I guess it's not flying anymore? Bottom of the Atlantic is my guess. Easily findable by the USN.

Knowing my luck, it crashed on our South Carolina tree farm, which is in the flight path between Charleston and the Smoky Mountains.....

The Mounted Police operates 16 PC-12 in some of the most remote parts in Canada including dirt and snow covered runways and no NavAids. They lost one last April. https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/311104

Some have Police liveries and some Civilians. The "Platypus" is a common site at the Government hangar at the Moncton airport.

The PC-12 is a perfect airplane for those remote locations. The U.S. Air Force bought 36 PC-12's 15+ years ago as the U-28A for special operations. They are not armed but have surveillance capabilities. (Note the turret on the belly of the U-28A in the photo, as well as the extra antennas.) The new OA-1K armed overwatch aircraft will replace them in a few years.

The UN General Assembly is in session again down in Manhattan. The event always brings a static air show to our area, with many of the world leaders parking their VIP aircraft at a nearby airport.....

Apparently it's crashed on land in a forest or wood in SC and we may never know why the airman ejected as an enemy would learn of a possible failing on the F35.

An excellent recent photo of a Top Aces ex-Israeli Air Force A-4N used for aggressor/adversary training.

This aircraft is readily identifiable as a former Israeli aircraft by the extended jet tailpipe -- seen only on Israeli aircraft. Visible under the tail is the housing for a braking parachute (just behind the tailhook). The aircraft carries two 300-gallon external fuel tanks for an additional 4,000 lbs. of fuel -- the A-4 shows its 1950s origins in a relatively small internal fuel capacity. Find a photo of an A-4 of whatever service or vintage without external fuel tanks and I will show you an aircraft short on fuel and worrying about when and where to land!

The A-4N, along with the similar Marine Corps A-4M, was the last model of the A-4 Skyhawk. The 117 A-4Ns were last produced in 1979.

Top Aces is a contractor who provides adversary services to various air forces, notably U.S./NATO.

The U.S. Air Force 55th Wing, based at Offutt AFB, Nebraska, operates a variety of modified Boeing C-135s in various roles. The most well-known of these are the RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft used for signals and other intelligence collection purposes.

Less well-known are the three WC-135R Constant Phoenix aircraft used for nuclear test monitoring, airborne radiological sampling and arms control treaty verification. These three WC-135Rs were recently converted from KC-135R tankers and replaced older WC-135s in the same role. As with the other aircraft of the 55th, the WC-135Rs range world-wide in their mission.

The WC-135Rs are fairly plain in appearance; the only obvious clue to their function being the air sampling scoop on the fuselage side above the wing.

PC-12's fly over my house almost daily, going to and from our local airport. I can usually tell when one is in the vicinity just by listening. In fact, that is a little game I play; I take a guess by listening, then look up the aircraft on Radar24.

The conventional wisdom is that when your legacy (pre-J) Hercules transports need replacement, buy C-130Js. But Austria and the Netherlands have chosen a different path: Both are buying the Brazilian Embraer C-390 Millenium twin-jet transport. The Austrian Air Force plans to buy 4 C-390s (CGI photo), while the Royal Netherlands Air Force plans to buy 5 aircraft.

Other nations ordering C-390s include Brazil (19 on order so far), Portugal (5 on order) and Hungary (2 on order). A number of Latin American and other nations have expressed interest. The C-390 can also perform the aerial refueling role with drogue refueling pods under the wings.

In the summer of 1966, I entered active duty for training in the Marine Corps Reserve while in the Philippines and needed to get to Quantico, Virginia, for Officer Candidate School. I needed to get from the Naval Station Sangley Point, Philippines, on Manila Bay to Clark Air Base to catch a flight. There was a bus, but my Dad, always eager to get out of the office and into the cockpit, flew me up to Clark in the station's UC-45J 'Bugsmasher.' The only time I got to fly with him in an active Navy aircraft and a treasured memory. I think I even got a few minute's worth of pilot time myself on the brief trip.

The photo is of a UC-45J warbird and I think the paint job is just a little off but it's a pretty good portrait.
