Once you've been on private boats, it's hard to go back to the cattle boats. That tarpon quest via fly is just a whim. I learned with my brothers and dad on a father's day outing several years ago, but little brook trout don't seem to measure up, at least to the videos.
It is somewhat true depending on what kind of boat and what you are fishing for. I have been fishing on my friend's 39' Tiara boat since last year. We had to spend a lot of time preparing for food/tackles/etc...and cleaning up before and after every trip. It is getting a little tired and some trips we would only catch few fish. Certainly different experience and it is not for everyone, especially when we are talking about the fuel cost and maintenance on such boats.

Party/castle boats are good if all you want to do is to catch fish. Only downside is the bunk beds are small on most of these boats.

I went out with 3 trips on party boats this year and caught 4 bluefins already. Been very happy. The friend I am going out on his boat with does not have experience looking for these BFT, but I know he wants them bad. Trying to help him land on one on his own boat.

That's more like "catching" than fishing...

Dorado from south of Cancun last year and the other is a 64 lb Halibut from Washington's coast.

I also chase Albacore, salmon, ling's and rockfish around here.

I have done fishing on my kayak boat but it is only good for medium-sized fishes. As compared to fishing, I am a great fan of underwater fun. Though I am good swimming but to teach swimming to my kids, I am thinking to get this Sublue underwater scooter from here https://trueform.io/products/sublue-...era-compatible.

Hopefully, it would be a great choice to see marine life closely. Have any of you tried this underwater scooter?

Getting the boat ready for a season of salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. Probably will make one trip out of Musekgon, MI in mid-May then the annual family week up north in Frankfort, MI. King salmon (chinook) are the main attraction, with coho, steelhead and lake trout in the mix as well.

Don't be like that guy in Santa Monica that got arrested for being by himself on a paddle-board in the middle of the ocean.

(OK, it was for defying the orders of a peace officers, but still)

Mahi Mahi action off Miami a few weeks ago. Also caught a tuna, hooked a hammerhead shark (line broke) and tried getting a sailfish to bite

Headed to Cabo San Lucas next Sunday for a week of fishing. Never been and pretty excited. My father-in-law has a timeshare there.

Just started getting into fishing, bass mainly. A bit of surf perch casting too but haven’t caught one yet. Trying to figure out different rigs that’ll get through wind and down between sand bars between the wave sets is tricky.

You guys with your 50+ pounders are in a whole other league with it lol.

Not at all. One of my FAVORITE fishing spots is this little dock in the harbor. $10 entry fee, peel some mussel off the dock, hook it into a #12, and catch a waggle fish (jack smelt) just at the edge of vision below the surface.

#2 would be a similar setup, but with sand crab I pulled out of the sand, and one of those little surf perch right there where the final wave breaks. I always figure out which way the current is flowing, then throw as far parallel to the shore as I can, then slowly reel if back to me.
