Private Messaging?

It says 4 post or 7 days on the top of my screen. Buts been over 2 months and still disabled.

Kind of what you call false choices. It's for people that have been around a while, contribute, and are reasonably assured to not be scammers. Yeah a few good newbies get hosed along the way but so be it, no different than if there wasn't a system as you suggested. Works for most of us here, no need to kill it or open it when leaving it alone is a perfectly good option as well.

Is there somewhere that says what the requirements are? "A certain number" is vague. I joined as soon as I got my G80 back at the end of August. I'm mostly a lurker who wants tech tips, will share product experiences, and will share pics every now and then. But still shows:

I joined in August and posted pics of our new to us X7. Posted some new posts but also have the same PM restrictions as shown on your page.
Still searching for forum rules on specifics about when PM is available.

I have also "private messaging disabled"
It was open, and I were using it. But now it is disabled.
Do someone know why?

I'm a relatively new user (actually forgot my old account from 10+ years ago so just created a new one) and I'm in the same boat as everyone else posting here. I see "private messaging disabled" and the green bar that has showed up since I verified my email:

In order to use the PM system and be a full fledged member of this community, you will have to make a certain number of verified post replies and wait 7 days for your account to be upgraded.

I have no idea how many "a certain number of verified post replies" is, so not sure if I'm anywhere near the required count. I'm well past the specified 7-day period.

Just adding my experience - I hit 10 posts, in a mix of off topic and other categories, and the following day my green banner disappeared, I now have PM enabled.

Mind you, I got 2 PMs from 2 different people faking to sell an item I replied to with 0 rep in their profile. Makes no sense

Still not unlocked... I don't know how to get it to unlock then. My account has been active for more than 7 days and I have been making posts... I would love for PMs to work to get more detailed helped on coding and iDrive firmware updates.

Edit: That actually did it, I think you need 10 posts (or 10 replies on threads, if there is a difference). PM seems to be enabled now.
