I'm an IPA guy, always have been even before the bearded ones arrived. I was fortunate to run one of the top breweries in US when they started a few years back. (and known winery before that) Got to taste some amazing beers from their group, Cantillion was best and their naturally fermented...amazing...brewery I worked with did too. (when I say top, we are talking rankings/reviews amongst the boards)
Sipping All Day IPA now, average but like the low alcohol... My favorite Stout is Hardywood Gingerbread stout. |

I got to mingle and drink some of the top beers in US. They had a private yearly event and TreeHouse, Alchemist, Hill Farmstead, Lawson, Other Half, Cantillon were there...it was a fun 3 years lol

I dislike ipa's - and thanks to the current craze it is getting harder and harder to find new beers that aren't ipa's.
Recently I've like Granville island brewery - lions winter ale. Lots of caramel undertones for an ale. |

I got tired of IPAs so I dug into Belgians as something equally strong(/stronger) without such strong hop flavor. Delirium and Chimay of course, Triple Karmeliet, some of the other common ones.
Then recently found my way back to IPAs via west coast style doubles...not so floral/hazy as the east coast and NE styles, feels like my sweet spot for now! Westbound and Down Double IPA is what got me started (local near Denver), Shorts Brew Superfluid, Station 26 Bang Bang - all right down the fairway for me.

I tried Delirium(the one with the pink elephant?) for the first time when I went to Brussels, Belgium a couple of years ago. It was great on draft. I think being in Belgium heightened the sensation
Needless to say, there are so many good beers there, many of which I have never seen here in the US. |

I'm from Atlanta and was a frequent to all the beers in the area. Made a trip up to Asheville for their extravagant beer scene as well... That was a long weekend
I see you've got ATL... Ride up to Gainesville and give Left Nut Brewing a shot. Some good stuff and a lot of "not IPA". I also made friends with one of the owners of Reformation Brewery by chance. I went by his house to pick up some second-hand Jeep stuff that he had for sale. Turned out to have a lot of similar interests and ultra nice guy. Still need to take him up on the personal tour next time I'm up that way... Now that I'm in the North Florida area, my go to is the small little brewery, Deep Brewing. Some super tasty gets there. Largest in town is Proof Brewing and they also have some guest taps. Makes for a great Sunday with their introduction of in-house restaurant, too. |

I can't stand IPA's and have never understood the popularity. Lately, comapnies have gone so far overboard with the hops that one sip makes everything so bitter you can't taste a damn thing...which is just pointless IMO. I live in Santa Rosa and we have one of the most popular breweries in the country and honestly their beers are severely over rated. With that said, every now and then I will try an IPA just to see if my taste has changed or if there is a diffferent style IPA that might appeal to me. A friend of mine's brewery does make a tripple IPA that tastes NOTHING like an IPA which I loved. Always an exception to the rule.
I too am a huge fan of Belgian beers. Tons of flavor, many styles to try, high abv. yet very smooth. As far as commercial beers, I find that international beers have a lot more flavor than a lot of the domestic beers. |

I consider myself a IPA connoisseur, hell I remember drinking IPA's like 10 years ago when everyone would gag and call them disgusting lol. Recently I found my all time grail of an IPA, its the BELL'S "Official" Hazy IPA. Now, I know what you're thinking, hazies are whack, artificially cloudly looking IPA's with low ABV.
Let me be the first to tell you this is different, a whole lot different. Ice cold its a crisp, refining hoppy taste, bitter yet no "artificial bitter" taste to it if you know what I mean. Like when an IPA is just trying to do too much.. None of that will be found here. The next time (depending on your area I am in S. FL) check your Crown Liquor or Milam's Super market look for it. Left Hand Milk Stout. I don't drink beer often, but when I do it's stouts and porters. Just had one here last night that was really good too, Scofflaw Milk Stout brewed in Atlanta GA.

Too many to list, depends on the food, the weather or my mood. One that I think goes under appreciated is Asahi Super Dry. Great with sushi or just on a hot day. Crisp and light, very refreshing.

Not a big beer drinker but John Smith's extra smooth and Greene King IPA are my favourites with the odd Guinness on some occasions. Not a lager person.
