This is what drives me crazy about the NHL. There is no consistency with suspensions. Yes that's a blatant severe slash and it happened after he got pissed and he is a repeat offender - BUT - if a star did that (as crosby, ovie, etc.) they get nothing.

I think 10 games is perfect - I'm just surprised the NHL stepped up and did something about it.

I'm just thinking back to when Raffi Torres was with the Sharks and as a repeat offender got I think 27 games after a violent board hit. And it's true, stars hardly ever get time and there are a bunch of them who play a bit dirty and they get away with no penalties as well.
Oftentimes the discipline depends on the injury---more reactive than preventative.

There are people who think that's exactly how it should be - NO WAY. You two hand a guy in the head you are gone... doesn't matter if he was concussed or not.

I watched a few you tube videos last night of a superstar diving and being dirty. Granted most were not too bad but some - OMG... this guy is the face of NBC and the NHL and I think he is an embarrassment - great hockey player yes but a disappointment to the game.

Crosby is not that bad. Methot didn't need that index finger anyway. .

But...show me any superstar hacking and I can probably produce twice as many videos of them getting their ass kicked in the corners...I think there's a reason why they do it...

Pens are spiraling down - Crosby can't score, Murray can't stop a beach ball.

As of now, 8 points is all that separates the top to the bottom in the Metro division (Patrick Division for those of us playing at home - hate it since they ditched the history of this game ).

Now that we have reached the 20 game mark (from the Sharks perspective) we are seeing how teams line up and what they need. Sharks have injuries and are basically pretty average and need something.

Your just so used to seeing the Pens in a solid position that it is underwhelming seeing them barely holding a wild card spot.

Look at the western division: 6 teams have 23 points with the Sharks at the last spot. Shoot, OT losses can make or break.

And we have unusual leaders here with Columbus. New Jersey, Winnipeg and Vegas (waiting to see the Sharks against them tonight).

Me too, it still bothers me that they tossed history in the trash and dumbed hockey down like that. The division and conference naming was one of the things that made the NHL so unique.

Vote for me to take over Buttman's job and I'll rename them to include some history. Norris, Smythe, Adams, Patrick, Wales, Campbell - used to mean something!!

I'll also include Colorado in a Jan 1st outdoor game and make them wear Nordiques uniforms, and Carolina/Whalers...... so many cool things to do.

Saturday night I think Doughty only left the ice in OT long enough to tell coach to call a time out. Don't we have any other competent, goal-scoring defensemen???? 'king guys

I'd have thought Detroit was a better team than that last night. 4-1 'king guys. Again, they needed that motivation of starting out behind . . .

My Habs are killing me in their last two OT games. OT is all about puck possession and they give it up too easily and the end result is a goal against. If necessary pass that puck all the way down the ice to your goalie and regroup Vs pressing a play and turning it over.

1) Puck Possession
2) High Quality Shot

That's what it's all about.

^ Maybe should train with the 'king guys. We seem to be tearing it UP in OT. Just wish we could finish in the allotted 60 minutes instead

What a game last night with Sharks vs. Hurricanes. Historical in that it was the first time in franchise history for the Sharks to come back in a period down 3 goals. I only saw the third period and OT and all I needed to say. Need every point.

Flyers fan here, stuck in Caps country.
Fresh off a 10 game losing streak to 3 game winning streak. This team is so up and down.
