Tonight is legs.
Stay away from Smith machine if you can. It's fail-safe but develop bad habits.

I had a quick hour between work and OT last night. Since I'm in the work gym, which is only really a Smith-like and some dumbbells, I did a back/bi. Impressed myself that I'm starting to see some development just in the controlling muscles of the arms. Also, to finish hard, I did progressively higher-weighted curls. Expecting to fail at about 4X, I went consistently to 6X, and probably the most I've curled in many a moon. My 10" guns looked almost 11" at the end

This schedule would be impossible at my gym. Everyone and their mother is in there doing chest on Monday and when Tuesday rolls around, you guessed it everyone is doing back. Even if my chest day falls on a Monday I switch to something else to avoid the bullshit lol.
If I do a split, I always do legs on Monday. I go against the conventional wisdom and don't have to fight for the squat rack.

Same here....aside from someone doing barbell curls in the squat rack....most people stayed away from the squat rack!

Plus, it's by far my hardest day and I like to get it over with.

Agree with 1MOREMOD always varrying, but I try to get legs in twice a week. Never have a problem getting a rack or using equipment, seems like most of my gym does not participate in leg day lol.

That's the way my current workout is setup. So I never seem to hit a body part on the same day the next week. I'm on a 3 on 1 off....and I go by feel if I need an era day of recovery or not.

Yeah I'm just about the same, some stretches i can go without an off day, just depends honestly. My typical split is:

back/tri->shoulder/bi->legs->chest->arms->legs->either repeat or day off

Of my leg days one is heavy and the other is lighter w/ more flexibility movements.

I try to get a day of rest in there so I'm not overworking myself, but sometimes I'll get bored on this day off and hit the gym anyway for cardio or some shit lol.

I agree, never have a problem getting a squat rack at my gym too. Heavy Leg day today.

Here's my setup:
Monday - Chest(Heavy/Strength), Leg (Hypertrophy/Volume)
Tuesday - Back/Shoulders/Core (Hypertrophy/Volume)
Wednesday - Leg (Heavy/Strength), Accessories (Kettlebell workout)
Thursday - Chest (Hypertrophy/Volume), Accessories/Core
Friday - Back/Shoulders (Heavy/Strength)
Weekends - Rest

I also fast on weekdays from when I wake until around 7pm after work. I feast from 7-9pm. On weekends it difficult to fast. Kids, family time, etc.

What do you guys consider your personal record?

Me personally i try to go up in weight little by little and would only consider it a personal record if i can do 8reps X 3 sets of it.

Unrelated but I had my first fail on the squat rack yesterday, was my last few reps left and I just couldn't do it, not sure if i blacked out but the bar went off my back and hit the squat rack. Certainly saved me of any injury but not the embarrassment

If i currently do 24 reps of 80 KG.

Didnt look at your calculator but would be how many in 1 set. Not combined into multiple set.

For me it's a 1 Rep Max although I rarely attempt them anymore. You can use a "Rep Calculator" to see how close it would be compared to a 1RM, but I find that they aren't as reliable as you would think.

For example with Bench...I would hit triples with a pretty heavy weight. But when I attempted a 1RM with a weight that was about 25 lbs heavier, I might as well had added a 100lbs as fast as that bar came down.

I learned that to successfully hit a record 1RM, you had to actually train for it by doing 1 rep sets.

Now I count my own personal records by my lowest rep range days which are in the 3-5 count.

I remember getting schooled early on by the Jack LaLane look-a-like that ran the first gym I went to. Buddy and I were in benching and seeing who could lift more. Owner walks over and says he wants in on the fun. Buddy and I each struggle up about 225-250. Owner puts on 100, whips out 10x, and claims prize for lifting 1000lbs

That said my line of work isn't 100% business oriented, but I constantly meet with vendors, contractors, etc.

Yea but in finance nobody wants to shake your rough, callused hands. Diff for every industry.

you talk about gloves completing 'the look', how about all these guys that wear athleta clothing? you need a 95$ pair of running shorts? plzzzz

I guess thats understandable.

Don't get me wrong I'm not one of those guys blowing cash on gym clothes lmao, I haven't even bought gym clothes in years(wish I was kidding). Last thing I bought were a $60 pair of nikes 6mo ago because after gorilla glueing my converses 100x they just couldn't hold up any more haha. I just know I'd look like a spaz with the gloves. I'm not about all that extra gear that people wear/need to have, half of them just wear it to look the part without pushing their limitations, I see people benching 135lb and wearing wrist wraps..... like what lol? Way I look at it if you're wearing wrist wraps you better be benching 3 plates, wrist straps/belt if your deadlifting over 405, belt if you're squatting over 365 otherwise you should be going in there raw, but I'm pretty judgemental

LOL!

You and I sound the same. If I wasn't for my wife, I would probably never have any new clothes.

In the gym, I pretty much stay covered up as much as possible and nothing matches most of the time. I'm not there to impress anyone....and definitely not there to make a fashion statement.

As far as gear.....I am the same. I didn't even know what knee wraps were or tried a set until I was squatting 4 plates.
