It is possible that the child is autistic, which causes this type of erratic behavior. Either way, no excuse. Maybe the mom should have given that child a shot of hard liquor. I really doubt other passengers would have reported her.

Agreed. Parents know what they have, and she certainly should have been more prepared, unless the child is the parent. Not a way to fly for other passengers.

Every passenger on that plane should contact the airline and demand compensation for not receiving the expected level of service - plus the safety issues of having a kid running around and climbing all over the place. However, this situation should have been resolved before the plane took off by removing the screamer and his mother.

I was in a restaurant last night and there was a family with a screaming 2-year-old that made the kid on the plane look like an amateur. After about 5 minutes of this torture, someone in the room said, just loudly enough for everyone to hear, “Take the child outside!” The father finally did, to the applause of the other guests in the restaurant.

You don’t have to put up with this kind of garbage.

Description: My wife and I were passengers on this 8 hour flight. It was torture. I have the right to film my discomfort. The airlines asked the mother to leave the flight with the child before the flight took off. The mother lied and pleaded and convinced the flight attendant that the kid would be fine once the plane took off and he could use his iPad (internet). If the mother knew he had a problem or a type of autism, why wouldn't she have a pre downloaded video or content? Anyways the flight took off and the kid never stopped for 8 hours... thats an 8 hour tantrum folks. Why did she have to wait for the internet or Wifi? Is the kid addicted to the internet? Doesn't she see what she's doing to her kids? Also the airline should have been more responsible in this situation as a plane full of 200 souls was affected for 8 hours of screaming and nothing was rectified yet as of now. My dad once took me out to the parking lot and whipped my ass with a belt because I wouldn't sit still and be quiet in a restaurant... at 6 years old. Never did it again. Don't think that kids don't understand consequences at that age. They have to know that you are in charge.

That is totally unacceptable. I would have demanded they return to the airport.

Can you imagine that shit on a red eye flight? I was on a red eye for 3.5 hours with a kid like this, but not nearly as bad. No one could sleep on the flight in our local area. When I got off the flight I was expecting it to be a baby because of all the crying. It was a damn 5-7 year old kid. Wow.

Unfortunately for both, your spankings would have been for naught. I have two autistic grandkids, one of which freaks out at any changing environment. I would blame the parent for not giving the child a sedative, of some sort, to calm the child prior to flying.
