First time posting but love the threads and all your insights, hugely helpful! I have an allocation deposit for a G80 production starting in June 2023. So late in the model year. From what I've read here it sounds like you're predicting the MY2024 G80 will be an LCI and production starting July 2024, is that right?? Wondering yours and anyone elses opinions on if it's worth keeping this allocation for a 2023 :/ so late in the year. They're predicting delivery would be September 2023 or so.

G80 LCI sop is July 2024 which will be MY25. Other than the MY change and MSRP increase (most likely), there might not be any other major change between MY23 and 24 G80.

Any predictions on what will change for the ‘24 i7? Will it just be a price increase? Will there be any new colors or will the various discontinued features come back (rear reclining seats, automatic doors, crystal headlights, etc etc)?
Any predictions on when allocations for them will open?

ynguldyn Regarding the G60 i5 (first post), you say that the M60 version will have roughly the same output as the iX but then you also say that all i5s will adopt motors and battery packs of i4 (i4 M50 output is less than iX M60). What am I missing?

You're missing the flexibility of electric drivetrains and the fact that tweaking them for an extra 10% power output is not as difficult as doing the same with an ICE.

A simple super mild tune does this so easily on an ice motor, I don’t really see the advantage on ev here

If you are the original manufacturer, you would probably have to re-test and re-certify emissions on a different tune. They don't have to do that with EVs, so there are cost savings there.

Please feel free to offer examples of different applications of the same BMW engine (not just the engine family but actually the same engine, including the last two characters of the full engine designation) with 10% or higher difference in power output as coming from the factory.

Sure, base 18+ m5 to competition m5. Both are underrated but comes have showed to be even more underrated than the base, it’s on the same s63tu4 engine. What about m5CS which again uses the same engine and adds yet another 10hp more?

Also, why do I need to “show you an example of a bmw engine doing this” crap?

Why don’t you explain what gives EV such an advantage for a 10% power increase over ICE being so much easier, as you said and which I questioned and stay on topic.

I was talking about official OEM specifications. Neither "mild tunes" nor owners' dyno tests have anything to do with that.

Try to understand what the conversation was about. Then we'll see if I owe you anything (spoiler: I don't).

When I said mild tunes I didn’t mean aftermarket tune, I meant factory one just as the examples I gave. Base vs comp etc.

Please learn to read, and stay on topic with answering my original question which 5 posts later you still can’t do. Feel free to move on.

Still going to continue with no direct answer. The car doesn’t have 600hp for the 10th time it’s 591hp. 600 is in PS. I thought you said you can read? Clearly not.

Even worse, the f10 m5 also used the s63tu engine and had only 552hp.

Still waiting for my answer though, let me know when you have one, or feel free to move on.
