It's some random custom plate (renters I think live there). It's the house that's special...

Yup, visited the old neighborhood last week, Jobs and Steve Wozniak (high school chum of mine) build their first Apple computer in that garage. A block from my childhood home.

I was at Book expo in NYC some years ago acting as a Sherpa for Wifey, who was chatting with the publishers and collecting books for review. She stopped to talk to someone and I got swept along in the crowd on the exhibit hall floor. I finally got myself out of the stream and backed into a small area by a booth. There was this bearded guy beside me and we started talking about crowd movement and how much it mimicked fluid dynamics. While we were talking some folks with lights and cameras came up and pointed them at the two of us. I knew they weren't there to see me. I turned to the bearded guy and he said, "There here for me." It was then I noticed he was wearing a T-Shirt that simply said Woz, just like the posters and books in that small area where we were standing. We chuckled and exchanged "Nice meeting you" and off I went. You never know who you are going to bump into at Book Expo.

The funny thing about celebs at Book Expo is sometimes you see them in odd situations. One year I saw guy sitting on one of those small, three-legged stools like you'd see in Norman Rockwell images. The stool couldn't have been more than 18" high. And this guy was trying to type on a laptop with his knees jammed together. No one else around him. But he looked familiar. After watching him for a few seconds it dawned on me that he was Oliver North.

There's a stairwell in that square that leads you down into the underground cellars where beer has been brewed, aged and stored since the 1300s.

Yes, it is part of a huge labyrinth of tunnels. As early as in the year 1303, the council of the city of Nuremberg passed a „Reinheitsgebot“ requiring that only barley malt may be used for brewing. This „purity law“marks the beginning of Nuremberg's beer history as it is still known to us. You can tour the cellars with a guide and at the end you have a beer tasting at the Hausbrauerei Altstadthof.

https://hausbrauerei-altstadthof.de/

I rode/drove there a few times mainly for the Christmas market.

I toured the tunnels a few years ago on a very hot day in late July. The tunnels were delightfully cool and just a little musty. I wouldn't want to be down there without a guide though.
Obviously I didn't visit the Christmas markets there but I've been to a number of them in Berlin... always a wonderful experience.

That area was my delivery area when I first went to work for UPS. I was the guy on foot in the Fußgängerzone, running back and forth to the truck with a two-wheeler piled high with packages.
