Prime diversity right there not much ovelap in sectors.

I would put 5k in each to an even 100 percent distribution.
7. AB inbev -people drink more in recessions
9. British Tobaco - people smoke more in recessions

I wonder if this will hold true as much now as it did in the past.

Do you think potential substitutes would have the same affect?
- Netflix - people will binge and watch TV more?
- NVIDIA - people will game more? PC etc.
- AutoZone - people will fix rather than buy new?

Possibly Boeing. It's down roughly 50%.

I dont know if that truth will hold the same merit but both are down substantially and the divined yield is outstanding and may make up for slow pps growth.

Netflix is a great stock but as many think they have alot of headwinds, to many streaming services coming on line. Thats why i picked Disney they have deep pockets and are a money making machine.

Nvidia has this new service called nvidia now basically offload the gaming hardware to the cloud. I heard they have been having licensing issues with the various game developers and they all have their own online game offerings. But those games have to be downloaded to an on premise gaming rig. We will see how this shakes out. Also mining crytpo is def on the decline.

Autozone- Not a fan expensive and has not been performing. Forretail im a huge Fan of Home Depot and its great div yeild. I may actually replace one of my stock with HD

There's more to go before I commit any capital. This is just the start. We are about to see some big companies struggle as this pandemic ramps up

Only 2 to 4 weeks quarantine here. Plus feds cut the rates to zero.

What do people expect Sp500 will do within next few months?

Transferred some funds to broker.....but this is scary

Funny that every time I was scared to invest, stocks skyrocketed. With my luck, I feel like it will be completely opposite when I commit ))

Buddy of mine bought some Wells Fargo on Thursday....

Does anyone recommend:

1.) Increasing 401k distributions
2.) Paying more mortgage principal each month

2 no. Unless you have a high rate in which case look at a re-fi. Otherwise, your home loan is the cheapest money you can borrow. Put extra into something that returns more, and you're better off in the long run.

I recent bought a few exotic cars (classics) all for cash, but have my home loan maxed - for what I earn having that money invested I make way more than I pay in interest.

I think it's a yes and no. I know hedge fund guys and they still pay off mortgages. It's cheap to borrow but it's also zero risk if you pay it off

American Airlines is down a ton, dunno if that was mentioned. If buying a house wasn't my priority, that's where I'd put some of my money.

similar boat as OP

Could use it to pay off the rest of the 458. Essentially be completely debt free at 34 with no mortgage, car loans, or student loans.

Or use it to invest in boeing, oil, hotels... and try to make some loot. Just not sure how long this virus panic will continue. What trumps bailout of boeing would look like and what terms they would agree to. Maybe he will let them fail, look at how many people are still salty about the auto and big bank bailouts.

look what happened to citigroup or BoA after their bailout. unless you got in at the exact bottom it wasn't much of a return...

This has been the only thing holding me back so far with them. Otherwise it's been ETF's.

I think people were salty with the banks because a) they were the main cause of the previous GFC and b) regular Americans don't feel any sympathy for big bank "fat cats" and view them as the enemy. Airlines and aerospace names touch most Americans in a different way and people see their function as beneficial to them. Just my $0.02.

As much of an impact as an airline going under would have on me, I'm having a hard time feeling bad for them right now. I feel bad for their employees, but not the companies themselves. They way they've been running things ever since they got on their feet again after 9/11 has been awful.

At this point, if they fail, they fail. The way they just keep over-inflating their stock prices by spending all of their cash on buy-backs has been so stupid. They got greedy post-9/11 too and once they started charging for everything under the sun, they never stopped. Despite turning massive profits again.

They all need an entire over-haul on how their businesses are run. So if they do get bailouts again, which I'm sure they will, they better come with some ridiculous stipulations on how they operate going forward.

I would be all for government regulation on a few key items-

Pricing and Service

Set price limits on routes and provide minimum seat pitch, size etc etc... offer 100% refunds and cancellations / changes. Reorganize the boards and forbid stock buybacks for 5 years...

Then a bailout is not a problem...
