I actually don't try to time things in that regard. I dollar cost average and send my portfolio management company and my 401K the same amount, every month, on the same day of the month. Trying to hit those peaks and dips is too challenging for a novice like me.

Been buying in and out of TVIX over the past month. I had bought in at only $4.74 and sold at $8.35. Bought and sold again a few times over the past week. Total account value is up over 70% for the year. Mutual funds ended up 14% for 2017 before this downturn. Anyone thinking of switching to bonds, or will we recover so quickly there wouldn't be a point?
