How did you do the stairs? Ran the wire to each landing?

If its not strip style and you just have LED tube style bulb in those big fixtures, you can rip all that out and replace it with strip lighting which looks much cleaner..

Regarding toe kick, all you need to do is add another low voltage feed from your transformer and bring it down to toe kick area. Easiest way is cut a hole in back of cabinet so you can fish the wire from upper cabinets into lower. Once you're in lower cabinet just run the wire on inside of cabinet corners and come down to toe kick where you make a little hole and feed the wire into it. Then you install your aluminum channels and connect it to your feed. Since you have dishwasher / stove also running in toe kick all you do is daisy chain the LED strip from toe kick and you move from one cabinet to the other.. PM me with any questions.. Also here is a marked up image of one of your pics and how to route the wire and where to mount the aluminum channel. The channels come with plastic clips which hold the channel in place.. ive also included finished photos of what i did at my place to give you an idea of overall look.. put it this way i never need to turn my recessed lights where i have LED it produces that much light..

ran the wire to each stair in the rough, total 3 feeds. Then when i made custom treads from red oak i fed the wire in channel which was routed to support the aluminum extrusion i was going to use.. once stairs were fully completed painted and stained i screwed the extrusions from the bottom of each tread then soldered an LED strip to each feed and put extrusion plastic cover (diffuser) which spreads the light evenly to prevent seeing actual LED cobs, cover was white in color to match the risers on the staircase. Once that was all done i connected it to 300W commercial grade transformer which is connected to Control4 dimmer and set to 30% brightness.

^That's effin awesome, I wish that there was an easier way to DIY it for those of us that don't want to rip up their stairs, I'd be all over it

If you have access to under the stair case, you could remove drywall which will give you access to framing to feed the wires into corner of each step. But then the issue might be design of your actual tread.. i.e. you would need to have square edge cantilever type tread edge so that you can screw in the aluminum extrusion from the bottom (channel which holds led strip).. channel will be visible of course but they are relatively low profile and cantilever of tread should hide it pretty well.. most common treads (non custom job) are round nose, i.e. nosing comes as option from floor manufacturer.. If this is your case, depending on nosing that you have you may be able to router them.. its hard to tell as i dont know how much cantilever you have and you dont want to reduce too much material on the edge where people typically step on due to obvious safety reasons.

To make it seamless its best done when designing staircase from scratch..

How well do car ports actually work? My wife is trying to help me with my car storage issues and suggested buying one. I'm tried of seeing a few of my cars paint being sun baked plus all of the dirt in the rain building up. Now I have another car coming this weekend so the problem keeps getting worse lol.

Installed a new shower door. Two hundred pounds of tempered glass made this a very unnerving DIY project.

It keeps the sun off of it most of the day. I mainly got it so I could wash cars in the shade and at night to be honest.

We started kitchen demo last weekend, and I'm rebuilding the kitchen island tomorrow. There was literally no supports. The 2corners where the walls met were just held together by drywall.
We'll build it back correctly. So far I've only spent about $300 (debris removal & buying lunch for family members who helped tear down)

I'll show a couple before and then current progress. We're leaving the floors (same throughout the house), cutting the bar height from 48" down to 36" (standard), all new counter tops, new back splash, new stove that will sit flush with island, and sanding/painting the cabinets (uppers in white, lowers in an off-green color).

We also raised the ceiling to be flush with the rest of the house. We found, under the ceiling you see in the before pics, that they had left the original tracks/lighting, including the 3' long tube light bulbs in the ceiling and just drywalled over it. Everything was half-assed. I always felt like I walked into a hobbit hole w/7'6" ceilings in the kitchen, and now it's back to the original 9'.

I've got a split level with a similar layout...been meaning to upgrade it in similar fashion eventually. Looking forward to seeing your progress!

I'll keep ya'll in the loop! We're hoping to keep our kitchen "reno" under $5k since we're reusing so much stuff. The most expensive items are re-running the electrical (meeting w/my electrician in an hour, who lives across the street), and the counters.

I don't even have to buy wood for rebuilding the island! I have so much left over from tearing down a wall in my garage, that I can just reuse it all.

My single storey extension. Finished in June this year. The pool table arrived early October, so getting to enjoy the space for it’s intended purpose. Windows, doors and lantern are all dark grey aluminium. I had my small garden remodelled and a new kitchen installed at the same time.

Everything about this is spot on! Love exposed brick interior walls and black felt on pool tables. Fixtures, countertops, cabinet facings and floors all - . Nicely done!

I really appreciate the kinds words. I put a lot of effort into the design and working carefully through the options and decisions, both big and small.

I have never undertaken any project like this in my life. I had a great builder, who was curiously both very relaxed, but also incredibly hard working. He was also gracious enough to allow me some small design tweaks and interventions, part way through the build, which really helped.

The whole extension was essentially designed around my requirement to have a pool table, in a social, fun, but also “mature” space.

Here is some pictures of the new attached garage - King Rudi they have married up the roof line well now, it is seamless and when it is all done, should look pretty good.

Maybe I'll even get to park in it this winter, still saying the garage doors might come in sometime during January.

Same, but at least mine is wide enough that I can open all four doors and still do laps around the car. Next house is a 3+ car garage, or just a big garage with some sort of a house attached to it.

Not a “house” project but it is for the house. Couldn’t find any TV stand long enough that I liked for reasonable $$ so I watched a few YouTube videos, bought $60 worth of 2x4s and 2x6s and built this. Not the best craftsmanship but I think it came out pretty good for the first piece of furniture I’ve ever built. Goes with the rustic cabin theme. Will probably build another slightly shorter one for the “concession stand” area I’m putting next to the home theater.

We have an old backsplit and there is always some work to be done.

We have done extensive interior renovations, and the outside is another labour of love.

This spring we had the deck replaced. Timing was not the best, due to lumber prices. However, the old deck was in a sorry state, with many boards just rotting under a persons weight.

We replaced the deck boards, as the 2x6 or 2x8 underneath were solid. We also replaced the privacy fence between our house and neighbours.

Next year, I have to stain the deck and also the deck that wraps around the house, which is still original.

Nice! Joe, my apologies; I don't know how I missed this post. They did well on butting everything up. Looks great. Post up some pics once the doors are on. Curious to see what you went with.

Joekerr Looking at your pics again this morning. What are you doing with the existing garage space? Reframing existing doors and smoothing out? Also, driveway, concrete or asphalt?
