Well I think we got more than forecast. That dark box under the streetlight is my neighbours car. After getting my driveway shovelled out it's time to head to work.

Looks like Arkansas and Mayfield, KY got hit bad. We had some nasty wind and heavy rain and maybe some hail. Loud, but not destructive. Still another line of storms coming through later, though.

It’s actually been pretty nice here in NC. We came I believe just before Thanksgiving and it has not rained a single day since then. Temps are been anywhere from 20s at night to a couple of days in the 70s during the day. Overall it has been great weather for working outside on stuff. However today it’s NASTY! I guess some storm is coming through and it’s been raining on and off, cloudy and windy. Not that cold though which is odd I think in the 60s right now. We were under a burn ban so we needed some rain. I think it clears up tomorrow.
Unfortunately be back in FL soon and I can tell you right now it will be hot and humid. |

Quite a bit. It's been raining pretty steady at our house (South of Santa Cruz, CA) for about 24 hrs now, with some periods of +0.5" /hr dumping. Probably 3"+ at the house and twice that in the hills above us, so far. Flooding down in the flats where Aptos Creek drains into the ocean. Winds they warned us about hit this afternoon and are still howlin'. Likely going to be a few trees down over at the golf course.
Gotta feel for the folks that live in the big burn area (CZU fire) to the North. 6" of rain in 24 hrs, plus the wind, dead stand everywhere, with no vegetation to hold the hillsides in place. No bueno. |

I covered the mini chickens, put my equivalent of sand bags at end of drive to keep water flowing, and cleared major debris to the main drain at end of block (since County never does). Baton down the hatches, secured for deep running!

Highs in the upper 40's to near 60F here for the rest of the week, with lows above freezing. Our power company just sent out a customer alert today (Tuesday) that they are already preparing employees to be working storm cleanup for a cold front with 50+ MPH winds forecast to pass through over the weekend.
I'm not complaining about the above-seasonal temperatures, since our boiler is still offline for at least another week or so and the warm weather is saving a lot of thrashing on our [backup] heat pump system.....

Big winds and lots of rain. Perfect weather to lose some trees.
Thirty years ago I was sitting right where I am now and the same kind of weather took down a large tree in my back yard. Scary to watch. Makes me fear the same thing will happen again. Damn Santa Ana winds. |
