That wrap is distracting...other than that I see nothing wrong with it. Currently the car is all white and with all the carbon fiber it looks great. Its a purpose built race car hence all the aero. I too would take a clean stock Starquest too. My buddy has 2 and my cousin used to have one back in the day. Great looking cars even by today's standards imo

A 1966 Volvo 1800 with a regal history having belonged to Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus Bernadotte, Duke of Jämtland.
The vehicle is/was for sale with only 10,750 miles on the clock. Mostly in original condition. Looking at the seats, it looks like it was driven hard and put away wet. |

Those cars really wowed me when I first saw them, and I still get a little tingle up my leg today.

You didn't buy yours new. The G54B is quite reliable as long as you keep your eye on the temp, as it's prone to overheat, which then causes the head to warp. There are several things you can do to mitigate that. There are much better engines, of course, but nothing wrong with the G54B. |

Again I think you might be missing the point of the build. Its a purpose built track car and the LS has a lot or response, power and torque put the box. Perfect in a light-ish weight car built for lap times. A built 4G63 would not have the grunt to run the lap times I don't think. On the street it would be a blast though, I agree that would be a fun swap |

Enjoying the recent Starion love on this thread. Not a great pic, but still one of my all time favorite cars. My God, that thing was fun.

The "bargain" Ferrari is the 1980-1993 Mondial mid-engine 2+2 available in coupe or cabriolet form. It started out with a 3-liter V-8 of just 205 hp, then got a 3.2 liter of 260 hp. In final form, it had a 3.4 liter 300 hp engine and a few late examples were available with an optional Valeo transmission with two pedals -- similar to BMW's SMG.
Ferrari bought into Michelin's metric-sized TRX tires for a few years and the early Mondial came with 220/55R-390 front and 240/55R-390 tires. These have proven problematic over time and many owners have replaced the originals with 16-inch wheels and tires, which were standard on late cars. The Mondial is unloved by collectors and used examples can be had for under US$100,000. The problem is that running costs are still at Ferrari levels, which can make owning a Mondial an expensive adventure. This one is a 1986 Mondial 3.2 cabriolet converted to 16-inch wheels and tires. Notwithstanding all the potential negatives, I think it is a rather pretty car and unusual for being a mid-engine 2+2. (But the +2 had better be quite small!) Note on Michelin TRX tires: The TRX was introduced in 1975 and was an early low-profile tire. It was used on some BMWs of the time (5er, 6er and 7er) in addition to a number of other makes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelin_TRX

And yes, I get the point of the build, and the LS is definitely the best bang for the buck, I just can't bring myself to like it in a Starion for any reason. If that's an '86 in L05 Olive Grey it's a rare car indeed! LOVED that color!!! |

I gave that car to my son to drive back and forth to college. He promptly burned up the engine somewhere in Texas, and traded it as-was for a ratty Honda Accord -- which never let him down. Meanwhile I purchased another Peugeot, a 405S wagon, a 5-speed in silver over red leather. Again, not my car: That was a wonderful car but Peugeot had pulled out of the US market shortly after the 405 came here. I fretted about long term parts availability. So I traded it for ANOTHER Peugeot, this time a 505S Turbo, 5-speed in dark silver over gray. Drove it until the cylinder head cracked for the second time. Wonderful machine. Not mine: |

Hell yeah, great color. I actually used to be the Archivist on Starquest Club. I had all the MY data and color codes, etc. I was the weirdo collecting the trim tags for super rare cars like the T80 Balt/Tahoe Blue Starion. Man, those were the days. I miss all of mine dearly.
