I'm glad there are people that seem to enjoy doing this! Getting some spring clearing taken care of.

Tree work, property taxes, and the siren call of the new Mac Studio. I've been spending money like a drunk sailor on leave this month!

Landscaping and home automation are the rabbit holes into which I have thrown myself. Aside from the money, I'm spending huge chunks of time doing both. The days are gone before I know it.

It won't really be spring here until Red's opens back up, and the throngs of people line up for lobster rolls.

Yeah I kept the feeders up all year in Pinole. Annas in California don't migrate, and we always had plenty of business in the yard.

Here we have the Ruby-throated hummingbirds, but they are spring and summer residents only.

Another new one for me. Found this creepy little thing on the underside of a lemon tree leaf - - - a Cottony Cushion Scale bug.

I have a borrowed drone for a couple of weeks. This shot is above my house looking up the Damariscotta River. The things floating in the river are oyster cages. This river produces some of the best oysters in the country.

So I told you that we have nothign but Anna's Hummingbirds around here...well today I saw a Rufous Hummingbird! Sadly I was not in a position to take a pic of it but it was pretty cool, it was bright orange. I had to look it up cuz I had never seen one of those and never heard of it either

Looked like this:

I still have another month before the hummingbirds return, but in a sure sign of spring, all the Osprey returned here over the last couple of days. It's like they all booked the same flight!

I just put out a seed feeder in my backyard. In one day it is down 2/3rds of seed. I'm going to need a bigger bag!

I go through a 50lb bag of peanut pickouts and a 40lb bag of black oil sunflower seeds every month. In the winter I'll see 20-30 birds clustered in the trees around my feeding platform.

Yeah I will be interested to see how it goes through the summer and then into fall and winter. The chickadees (the Maine AND Massachusetts state bird) don't migrate, so it could be a very popular spot. In the meantime, back to Wild Birds Unlimited.
