The Minister of War & Finance got her quarterly shipment from Justin today (she's a Paso Girl).

There were only five bottles instead of six, and the box was pretty beat up (but no evidence of wine damage).

Either the guys at Justin had trouble counting or someone at FedEx is having an excellent bottle with dinner tonight. She's going to engage with Justin tomorrow when she has a break from work.

She sampled a glass from one bottle and was pleased-- I stuck with champagne since I'm not much for Reds.

Interesting, how many once each flask hold, 3oz?

Do they suggest any pairing for the tasting session?

They are 4oz each. We are just going to do a board of treats to go with it. I don’t recall them calling out anything specific to go with. I bought 2, one for now and one for a little later this winter.

Sound good, I need to check of any of our winery (north of the border) does something similar.

I'm sure you know that but we are expecting at least 8 pics...

The Isoscleles is such a good drink from Paso Robles! The Reserve is even better, and right now they are having a sale on 6 bottles for $540, shipping included: https://www.justinwine.com/product/2..._Qc6IZs.Shh7Ns

Thanks! Forwarded to the Minister. She's a member of their wine club since forever, so it'll be interesting to see if she pulls the trigger.

Around the world (sort of) tasting last night. Four of us…5 splits plus half a bottle of Rare Tawny served with charcuterie. Amarone was my fave.

Her answer was: "Next time".

She has a bunch of shipments already in the pipeline from various wine clubs as 'tis the season for deliveries since the temperatures are finally dropping.

And there's just not enough storage for an extra half-rack at the moment.

Killed it tonight.

Titus 2021 Petite Sirah Port.

https://www.titusvineyards.com/Our-Wines/Dessert-Wine

A couple to few additional years would have aged it perfectly, but I was in the mood for a port and it was what was immediately available in the "Good" wine fridge upstairs without having to go rummaging around with the wine stored in the basement.

Damn good. Very much recommended.

'Tis the shipping season, indeed.

A shipment from Shramsberg (Bubbles for me) showed up today, and we're waiting on a box from Tablas Creek that should be here in an hour or two.

A shipment from Aidlaida should be here sometime early next week.

The Minister of War & Finance got me the Shramsberg Cellar Club as a Christmas present last year-- but Ive enjoyed their Bubbles so much, I think she's going to bump me up to their Riddler's Circle this Christmas.

Posting this in wine thread only because the food was totally forgettable. Wine dinner tonight for Caymus wines. cmyx6go I had a chance to compare the 50th anniversary with the California Cab. It was a no brainer, 50th was the winner by a mile. Also had a chance to chat with the rep for Caymus representing Az and Nv. He said hands down the red schooner transit from Australia was it for him. It’s pretty good, but not sure it is the hands down winner over the voyage from Argentina. Hard to beat the original…

Did you like the Emmolo Merlot? Some random guy turned me on to it in the liquor store a few years ago. He said he normally wasn't a Merlot guy but he really enjoyed it. So did I.

I didn't like the Schooner from Australia. I think my favorite Caymus was the 40th anniversary.

I did like the Emmolo, and like you not a Merlot fan. If the 40th is anything like the 50th, I get it. I really liked the 50th.

Stopped by our local purveyor of fine foods to pick up some treats for tomorrow’s axr virtual tasting. Wouldn’t you know it, they were having a 25% off wine sale if you buy 6 bottles. Some of these were marked down even more. I saved about $150, couldn’t pass it up. Also while there, the Mayacamas distributor rep showed up. Got her contact info.
