That's very fast for a S4. That can't be stock right? (stock is about 333hp I think).
I estimate you need 400+hp for that in most cars (on a porsche maybe less due to good aerodynamics on those cars)

My Z4 tops out at 175MPH (GPS speed)
By that time you're wondering when the roof gets blown off. That top isn't made for those kinds of speeds.
Also the aerodynamics start to do strange things to your sidewindows etc on that car.
But all that makes you really aware of the speed.
155mph+ top down is also interesting and will clean out any dust in the interior
You have gone 155 with top down.
Are supposed to do that?

Nowhere near 200mph, don't think I have the stones for that. Some of my best:

-150mph Z4 coupe on the Nurburgring
-148mph E39 M5... two passengers sleeping didn't even wake up
-132mph my old Integra
-121mph S2000, on track
-119mph VW Tiguan TDI on the autobahn, lol

Now that I go to the track, I don't do the bigger speed stuff much anymore. I'm not even sure I've hit 100 in my S2k outside of a track.

Because BMW adheres to a UN regulation that drops the displayed speed to account for snow tires or some such nonsense (UNECE Reg 39). Meaning, if you want to go 65 MPH, you need to have it at 70 MPH.

I think that there is a lot of smoke being blown in this thread and much size comparison being done. Amazing how good people are on the internet and nobody ever lies, right?

If you live in or near germany its no big deal to drive fast, other than that you need a fast car, and getting out of bed on a sunday morning.
There are still quite a lot of unlimited stretches. You just have to find a quiet one.
But that said most germans drive between 80 and 110mph. You're not getting a lot faster at your destination at higher speeds, and gas prices are much higher in this part of the world (even with the low oil prices, a US gallon of gas still currently costs about $5,- in germany, and germany is relatively cheap in europe).
If you drive at 130mph or so, you're seldomly overtaken.

I wouldn't mind paying triple for gas to get a higher speed limit and smooth asphalt. However, it's not the ridiculously low speed limits that frustrates me in North America but the needless stop signs and mindless traffic lights. Don't get me started.

It's not only triple for gas, you also pay double your income tax, much more VAT etc etc.
I still think for a car nut with a steady decent/average income, the US is the best place to live. (despite the poor roads and low speeds)
Norway or singapore is probably the worst.
If I would live in the US, the first think I'd do is buy a corvette (they are rediculously priced here ($165k or so) due to all the emission taxes). I dont know what a corvette would cost in norway, but I think its around $250k or so

fastest ive been is 165mph in my remapped noble M12 GTO.

long story short i was cruising along at 90 or so late at night, met a high performance bike (not sure what it was). got the nod from him and floored it. he got the jump on me, i passed him at 160 and then at 165 my engine disintegrated in a spectacular cloud or smoke and shrapnel. he naturally passed pissing himself (lucky he didnt get bits of engine in his face) while i rolled to a firey halt to spent the next 4 hours getting my mess of a car home. stupid behaviour and not something i will do again in a hurry.

apparently Nobles are designed for race track driving not sustained high speed, the coolant system pipes are right next to the turbo's which get white hot at top end load. The heat melts the coolant pipes, coolant leaves engine = engine warps and eats itself.

new engine purchased, on first test drive after fitting new engine snapped the diff. Cursed stupid car and bought BMW - never looked back. it was fun while it lasted.

Arrow V-Max...

I've done (a real GPS) 285 kph in my 135i with only a (German)flash tune 380 PS.

A friend of mine with a FBO 135i N54, has seen 294 kph on the German Autobahns.

Here is my V-Max back when my 135i was stock. Btw... even though the speedo reported 250 kph... my Nav/GPS said the car was only doing 240 kph!

Built in a shed, what can you expect lol. Was great fun though. No electronics to interfere with real driving. Awesome car but as a daily driver.... Was a bad decision

Correct, wasn't stock. APR stage 1 tune (their first release) , intake and cat back. Sure was a fun car.

The newer highways in Az are pretty good. 173mph (indicated again) was pretty smooth on the 101 northbound on two wheels around 2 am....from what I heard of course
