I want a Video with an unedited run around the track and on the dyno by a neutral tester. Who knows how much they´ve beefed up the hardware. |

Alfa Romeo took a page out of McLaren's book and did the same shit when McLaren posted a video with snippet pieces of the P1 going around the Nordschleife like a beast on roods claiming that they made it under 7 minutes.............
I'm still waiting for the P1 full video going around the 'Ring in under 7:00. And if Dale from the BTG site could keep up with the Giulia with a Seat Leon Cupra wagon, a 4 banger turbo at that, on a tourist driving day, it makes you wonder if it can actually do the 7:39 they claim. Keep in mind that the guys in the Alfa are supposed to be professional drivers and Dale is a blogger that does drive endurance races, Nurburgring 24 hour Races, VLN series races and does ringtaxi drives.

And the lap time 7.39 is true and done with one of the first cars built for the "process verification" of the assembly line. It's not even the final car! Knowing the driver and the car, I think he can even lap under 7.39 at the Ring, but we'll see when they make the video as happened in the past with the 4C. |

2)I have no interest in Mercedes so I won't comment on them. BMW has been lacking in the emotion department for some time, but how do you explain the M2, M4 GTS, M4 CSL, and new supercar that they are rumored to be working on with Mclaren? Just saying they have some spark in them left. 3)You are right...just to maintain themselves. What do you want them to do not make the car when they know it will make them money and sustain? Growth and prosperity are the goals of a company not to die out. You're blaming them for staying alive. However I get your point in that they can go about different ways of staying alive by producing a car that has pure passion in it versus a formula driven car. I'm not really arguing your points and most of what you said is true. If the lap time of the alfa is true then that is a true passion car. It's amazing what it can do, but you can't blame big corporations for still producing great performance cars and even going into the true enthusiast territory. BMW doesn't need to do what Alfa is doing because they sleep easy at night knowing their i brand is sustaining them and will for the future. Alfa has night sweats. |

Now, if that lap is true, why has the video not been released? It's the same as McLaren did with the P1. Oh yea!!!!! We did under 7 minutes but we're not releasing the video. In my view, no video, no lap time. It's like me saying I did the 'Ring in 8 minutes and not produce the evidence. (lowest I've done is 8:59 though ) Now, When the final car is ready they can give it again to Horst Von Saurna and go at it again and see of the final product can actually do what it says. Until then most of the enthusiast community will dismiss it as hot air. On another note, Da dove sei en Italia? Mia moglie e da Ginosa, Provincia di Taranto, Puglia.

Anyway I agree that claim a certain laptime without releasing a video is not a smart move... but this is up to marketing guys! Oh... and I'm not currently located in Italy but my parents are from Puglia as well, Lecce to be precise. |
