Your visitor is an arboreal salamander. I find them often in both San Jose and Glen Ellen. They are a small but voracious hunter. Be sure to google 'arboreal salamander bites' - - - or just check here: https://www.amphibianfact.com/wp-con...ander-Bite.jpg

We had an albino one not too long ago as well. Not sure where he goes, it shows up on our step every once in a while...no pattern at all.
