New renders courtesy of Michael Papas. Looks pretty decent IMO.

Michael Papas' attempt to decamo the prototype.

Aside from the goofy ground effects front and rear, that's not bad. No Supra has ever really been good looking, so this fits right in.

To each their own, but I get tons of complements on my MK4.

Oh, no doubt it's a cool car. I just always thought it looked like it was styled by committee. The front doesn't match the middle or back to my eyes.

Full disclosure, my dad's still got his '93 FD RX7.

The front isn't my favorite view either. Aftermarket lips do help a little.

On a different note I did a quickie on Paint. Based it on a render from OtherPeoplesCars.

The beak is getting softer. Are those screwball mirrors from the concept? Hopefully those hit the rubbish bin before we see production.

Really excited for this car. I'm actually hoping they tone down the design a touch from the concept without losing the spirit of the designers inspiration. That will actually make it look a bit classier and keep it current for longer. Really radical car designs go out of favor very quickly.

Unless they are hiding a ton of stuff, looks like you got your wish. Looks like they toned it down a ton.

Future Toyota Supra And BMW Z5 Spied Together In The Snow

http://ca.motor1.com/news/139813/toy...-bmw-z5-spied/

Quote:
These models look very different, but the same platform is underneath. They look quite exciting for very different reasons.

Toyota’s new coupe and BMW’s upcoming roadster – speculatively called the Supra and Z5, respectively – are two of the most hotly anticipated performance models on the imminent horizon. Now, a new batch of spy photos briefly captures this platform-sharing pair together, and the pics offer the best chance yet to compare their designs.

Both models continue to wear extra panels over the body that distort the actual shape, so it’s best to take these photos as a rough guide for their styling. Even with so much concealment, the Supra is still quite a looker, though. The front end and double-bubble roof take direct inspiration from the FT-1 concept. Around back, the model blends cues from this show car while mixing in elements from the fourth-gen Supra, especially the taillights. Massive brake rotors show that this machine means business, too.

These photos only provide a rear-end view of the Z5, but previous photos show it from every angle. The styling has nothing in common with the Supra, despite their shared platform. Based on the design, the simple shape provides some support for rumours that BMW is planning the new model as a back-to-basics roadster as a replacement for the Z4.

The powertrains for both models remains a mystery, but there’s evidence that Toyota would use some form of electrification on the Supra – at least for a range-topping model.

A report out of Japan indicates that Toyota might show a near-production Supra concept at the Tokyo Motor Show in October. An alleged contract with Magna Steyr would allow assembly to start in Graz, Austria, sometime in 2018. The firm would build the Z5 at the same factory.

New set of spy photos. We do get a better look of the width of the rear and quarter panel rear window; also looks like there are new exhaust tips.

Base on the 17 inch wheels this is how it stacks up to the MKIV. The length is roughly the same, but the wheelbase is just a hair shorter. If I had to take a guess, maybe 2 inches less?

Rear drive, 6 cylinders and 6MT. That's all I'm looking for in a small car. I hope the Supra checks the third box too

Extra credit if it has a reasonably usable back seat (like the 2 series or the Lexus RC)

Toyota Supra Interior Looking More Production in Latest Sighting

Quote:
It's been months since we had our first look at the interior of the Toyota Supra prototype and this second look shows an interior that's been changed and updated. The dashboard, center console and steering wheel are no longer from the BMW parts bin (compare to the older photos below) and now appear to draw influence from the Lexus RC Coupe.

However, BMW parts can still be seen -- the automatic transmission shifter and iDrive controller knob, for example. The screen placement is also very BMW-like.

We also get a great first look at the seats, which feature a very modern and sporty look while being thin (great for feel) and has heavy bolstering.

Actually looks like it's coming together pretty well. Certainly going to have Camaro levels of blindspots.

2017 Toyota Supra to get automatic gearbox and BMW electronics

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/n...nd-launch-date

Quote:
Latest shots show Supra's look both inside and out; it'll share its underpinnings and gearbox with the upcoming BMW Z4

The hotly anticipated Toyota Supra will have an automatic gearbox and BMW electronics, as shown by a new sighting of a development car's interior.

Photographed testing at the Nürburgring, the two-seater model, which is twinned with the next BMW Z4, features BMW switchgear, including a dash-top infotainment system and accompanying rotary dial controller on the central tunnel, as well as BMW heating control buttons and a BMW automatic gearlever.

The Supra is expected to share its automatic gearbox with the BMW, albeit with different ratios, while also incorporating the same hybrid four-wheel drive set-up, comprised of a BMW petrol engine mated to electric motors with energy stored in supercapacitors - which will have technical links to the ones used in Toyota’s TS030 Hybrid Le Mans car.

Toyota has refrained from revealing any details about its new coupé, telling Autocar: "We don't comment on future products". However,ut sources claim that the car's use of a hybrid set-up means it will likely be offered exclusively with an automatic gearbox.

Design influence for the model comes from the FT-1 concept of the 2014 Detroit motor show. The Supra will be built on the same platform as the upcoming Z4, which will use BMW’s carbonfibre architecture from its current i3, i8 and 7 Series. However, unlike the convertible Z4, the Supra will only be available as a coupé.

Predicted to arrive in 2018, shortly after its Z4 counterpart, the new Supra is the long-awaited successor to Toyota’s discontinued coupé, production of which ended in 2002.

The new Supra will sit above the GT86 in Toyota’s line-up, making it the Japanese brand’s flagship sports car. It will also be considerably more expensive than the GT86, which is priced from £26,855, due to the Supra's advanced powertrain and construction.

Toyota first demonstrated the performance potential of a hybrid model back in 2013 with the Yaris Hybrid-R concept car, which used a 414bhp set-up comprising a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor on each rear wheel.
