Can't get away from this thing anyway now!

Caps crushed by Flyers last night. Looking like an early exit from the playoffs...

Yeah - it's crazy times with this virus. I am wondering if the Tokyo Olympics will go on. There is talk of canceling that (as opposed to reschedule or change of venue).

DC area has everything from people freaking out/stocking up/hoarding/not leaving homes to others who are going about their day as if there is not a care in the world. Seems to be quickly changing from a majority not caring to a majority stocking up/freaking out.

With the rate this is going, all of the games will either be postponed by a month or so, or all teams will play without fans. Going to be some very quiet stadiums....

(I guess I got the info a few minutes early?)
Wondering now if bc of the CDC recommending no gatherings over 50 people for 8 weeks if that means we won't see NHL until at least May 10. THAT then begs the question on if they would just cancel the rest of the season and say prep for 2020/2021? I'd prefer them to finish the season and just delay the start of the next (or shorten the next).

Ottawa Senators have the first player to test positive in the NHL. Don't know if that really matters anymore as every league, business, demographic, etc. will eventually have people test positive...

… crickets … crickets …
The Caps and Wizards are playing a "simulated" season for now. Papa John's is offering 50% off when the Caps/Wizards win a "virtual" game. Any other cities doing this? I guess it's one way to stay on the mind of people.

NHL supposedly making an announcement on the rest of the season today.
I don't have the information, but my best guess is that based on timing, they are just going to cancel the rest of the season. Hope I am wrong...

So what happens now?
Lots of teams sent long(er) term assets for short term rentals, lots of expiring contracts, etc. building up for a Cup run that now will not happen. I guess it's just 'tough luck.'

I am unsure about this 24 team playoff thing. Is that a legitimate Stanley Cup win?
