Pal of mine STILL gets calls from his ex. Divorced over 30 years with no end in sight. Me? Still working on #1. She is seriously flawed but cheaper to keep her.

(And I'm pretty sure I don't pass the flawless test either)

Is it just me, or are bottles/jars being engineered so that they are impossible to open without water pump pliers these days?????

I tried to get the inner safety stick-on thingy off a bottle of salad dressing yesterday. It had enough glue to hold the wings on a 747. I had to use a knife to carve the damn thing off the bottle.

Glad I'm not the only one! I can't get enough leverage on the semi-circle fold-up pull tab flap with my fingers, and using pliers will tear the tab flap off of the seal every time. I got lucky yesterday, and was able to get a decent nip on the edge of the seal with some small vise grips that let me peel that puppy right back.

Another thing that I've noticed is that the art of leaving off a small dab of glue at the center of the top seal of a cardboard milk/juice container seems to have been lost since the advent of the plastic cap on the side. There is absolutely no way to tear the ears back on a carton and get it to fold open with a pour spout, because the glue is holding the tip of the spout tightly.....

I've started keeping breakable blade razor knives in one of the kitchen drawers. I don't even bother trying to peel labels on anything anymore. Slide the blade in the crack between the lid and the bottle, spin the blade around and Bob's your uncle. Side note, I'm plenty strong enough to open bottles, jars, lids.....I'm so damn anal because of what I do for a living that aesthetically the clean cut is more visually appealing.

Also another handy tool I keep in one of the kitchen drawers.

Also noticed Makita makes one that is slightly more bad ass.

Duct tape is like The Force. It has a light side, a dark side, and is the only thing holding the universe together.

I'll disagree on WD-40. It is a water-displacer (WD) and penetrant...NOT a lubricant. Someone needs to edumicate Hank Hill that locks should only be lubricated with dry lubricants, such as graphite. Since this is the old farts thread, we all should remember how useful WD-40 was back in the day for drying out wet ignition wires on cars/motorcycles.

I don't know if you have shoplifting problems in Germany, but here in the US packages are intentionally designed to be difficult to open so that low-lifes don't pop them open in the stores and steal one or more parts.....

Give Vick's VaporRub a try!!??

My wife is Filipino and they all swear by this " magical " home remedy???

I woke up this morning with a sore ankle and first thing my wife asked was if I wanted her to get the Vick's??

That's her answer whether it's a sprain, a toothache ....... if I was having a heartattack she'll probably rub Vick's in my freaking chest before calling 911

And what was the one that nearly wiped out a large chunk of central FL back in the early 90's? My ex was working for an insurance company that nearly went bankrupt after that.

As they should be. Current music sucks! Is there even such a thing as new rock and roll? We stream music in the office and the station changes every few hours. When it gets to current pop my ears bleed.

Surreal is the only word that works to describe those scenes.

ANDREW!!!

I was a wet behind the ears State Farm Fire claim rep. Spent three months. Had some amazing stories about survival. Saw some astonishing feats accomplished by the wind.

Worked homestead, coral gables. What a mess!!!

Moved into our house (Biloxi MS.) the day before Camille.

It's been my benchmark ever since.
