The Oregon coast trip was a few years ago, but I started from Seattle, and stopped halfway down in Lincoln City. I'm toying with retiring up in that area and was kind of meandering in all the little towns along the way. Traffic was light though, and it was an easy drive. 101 in Northern California is pretty scenic as well, unitl you get to about Ukiah, then you are back in civilization. |

Drives BMW if you get that one.
Retired Came from California I thought that is why they hate us in Oregon/Washington? I'd pick a place with more sun though. Congratulations on getting to the point where you actually may retire.

That's a really cool looking building Anthony, and nice mountain in the background.
Weebl, I am no-wear near retirement, I am just planning ahead. I retired from the Air Force a few years back, but that is not "real" retirement, meaning I still need to work to be able to eat and such. I want to be done with it all well before 65 though, and that is why I keep a look out for places far cheaper than here, although I sure really do like wear I currently live. It gives me something to think about all day at work |

It looks like you are in Herc/CC county or so. No snow, lots to do, center of the world but I understand your point.
Thank you for the years.

Nice shot, Gary. But IMO, that's the worst part of the RS series. I love the Audi's from every angle but the front. That baleen whale grill....

100-400 or 300? Is the 300 really, really sharp without processing?
Friends and relatives in Pinole and I used to live above Willow and Luckys in powder town. I thought somewhere you might have mentioned you lived there or it was all the Martinez Amtrack/Hercules photos.

That was with my 1D4 with the 300 2.8 and a 1.4 TC. The 300 by itself is sharp enough to make your eyes bleed! I kind of experiment between the 100-400, 300 with and without tc and my 400 5.6 to see which one takes the best moon shot. It's hard to tell, so I keep trying! I really wanted to splurge and get a 500 f4, but I ordered the BMW instead. I couldn't swing both. I can always rent the really big glass for special occasions. I actually bought my 300 used from lensrentals.com, and hope someday can pick up a used 500 or even 600. |

Which TC? I think my II makes it even murkier and I know that area well. I'd like to get the 300/500 but alas, the mortgage is higher rated.

My 1.4 is the version II, I have version III of the 2X, but it's not so great for moon shots, kind of a small target to get detail out of. It does work well for other larger wildlife and such.

Weebl the only thing that will really be setting my pace will be me getting home to do taxes in April. Otherwise it will be up to my right foot to determine my speed with the police. I'm not 100% determined to do 101 the entire way, I suspect the scenery might get a little monotonous after a few days straight.
I'll definitely be picking you west coasters brains before I head out from BC, unless I decide to go through Canada instead. Only time will tell. A goal in my life is to go through every province at some point, and that would knock off a few that I'm unlikely to revisit again after . such as Manitoba and Saskatchewan. (I suspect a lot of boredom) P.S. I won't miss the penny, I have about 500 around my place, much of which is rolled. Such a useless coin these days. But I do have to say, the transition is a bit obnoxious. And what good are pennies if you can't buy penny candies anymore Just my 0.05c |
