That's interesting about the mold, and I Googled it. It seems that wine refrigerators, due to humidity and temperature are indeed very susceptible to mold. How do you guys deal with it? Any problems? Best practices?

I take the paper off lol.

Knock on wood, I haven’t had an issue (yet) but I also haven’t stored bottles for multiple decades. I think the longest I have stored is about 10 years. I do keep an eye on the humidity level and check each bottle and cellar interior annually when I change the overpriced charcoal filter.

If you drink it fast enough, it's never a problem.

Ah, makes sense. I’ve never managed to have the self restraint to get past 5-6 years in the house.

LOL!

But I've never heard of this wine fridge mold issue. We replaced a 36 bottle wine fridge with the one I posted earlier but I've never experienced mold, but then again we're in Colorado which is an arid climate to begin with.

Me and my axr are finally together again. Both of these reds were wines we did barrel tastings of in July. I can’t wait to see what they taste like now. The chard is quite tasty, too. 3 bottles of each.

Looking at those fine coolers made me realize I needed one. Said it holds 166 bottles, but I don’t believe it. Also, last night was the Cyrus, tonight the AO Marston Vineyard.

Sweet cooler hubbahubb but as was pointed out earlier, they're never big enough!

Luke is too cute. Great dogs, used to have two of them, Chloe and Jake.

We already have another dog, - we have always rescued our puppies but my wife wanted a buddy for our 1.8 year old who is a mixed breed. This time though, it was me who insisted on a KCC.

Congratulations - I have the Whynter brand too, albeit the dual zone model which is almost identical to yours.

I researched wine coolers and saw that you could pay upwards for $5K or more but the Whynter model was highly reviewed and let's face it - if I get 5 years out of it before it fails I can buy another and still be cheaper than the hoighty-toighty brand names.

Exactly! Found this on Amazon for less than $1500 delivered and set in place. I really couldn’t have found a better deal.

When shopping for a wine fridge, it’s a little different than a regular refrigerator. The ability to maintain a consistent temp and humidity level and minimize vibration is important, especially if storing expensive wines for longer periods. I have 3 small to medium EuroCave models, the oldest of which has lasted 20+ years and still maintains a consistent environment for the wine. If something lasted only 5 years I’d be concerned about how well it maintains the wine. (I’m not familiar with Whynter or suggesting there is anything wrong with it just noting the purchase criteria is a different than other refrigerators or appliances because of what it is storing.)

Mrs H scored a deal from one of our distributors. She bought 18 bottles of “The Prisoner- Unshackled” for an average of $9.30/bottle. Normally around $25 at Total Wine, etc. It’s actually pretty decent after some good decanting time! Score!

You gotta fill up the empty spots in your new wine fridge! Nice score.

Just when I thought I was done receiving wine, my Stags’ Leap club shipment came. I changed it a bit from what they wanted to send me. I received 3- The Investor (love this wine), 1- Yountville Cab, and 1- Oakville Cab. I’m sure these will be nice also. They also included a nicely bound logo’d notebook. Now that’s really it! No more pending orders!
