You'd never leave your driveway then because that's all there is. Speed is relative. If everyones going the same speed then theres no difference between 25 and 105. This is mostly on highways with exits every 20-40 miles so there's no exiting or merging cars at different speeds.

What happened was cars used to have every option or feature something you could add or delete. Then foreign car makers, especially Japanese, started bundling them because people didn't want to wait for a personalized option list car to be built and shipped. So they offered 3 packages, 2 transmissions, chunked a bunch out in different colors and combos, and shipped them. Other makers saw that by bundling unpopular options with popular ones they couls sell more options. Remember, car makers make more profit on options per dollar spent than the cars. So this pushed profits. Now, if you want one or two features of for example the executive package, you are forced to pay for the others you don't. Win car makers. Lose car buyers.

Yes and no. The above apllies if he for example slams into a cement mixer pulling out onto a side street. On a highway, unless you hit a car pile-up in the fog this doesn't apply. Worst case, if you actually are looking past the bumper in front of you, which you should always be doing as far as possible, he hits his breaks hard for no apparent reason, which never happens for any reason. You just need enough time to do the same. Couple car lengths is plenty.

I think back-up cam, lane keep assist, blind-spot detection, pre-collision, pedestrian-collision warnings and all that extra crap is unnecessary.
LEARN TO DRIVE. And learn a MANUAL transmission as well. My current F80 doesn't have exec and neither will my next. |

In current cars, i would argue 95% of the items... I dont' see how anyone would need any new tech outside of a blind spot monitor (which I think should be a legal requirement in all cars), navi and backup camera... And that Navi being quite useless in comparison to simple phone Google Maps.

yeah, they made a fuckin bakup camera a legal requirement, when accidents happen at 5 mph from someone too lazy to look backwards... but 80 MPH on the hwy and super easy to miss the car in your blindspot where most accidents happen.. no biggie |

Stop riding in blind spots. I was taught not to do this. Never had an issue. 800,000 miles. If you've been in 10 accidents like this you may want to consider you aren't practicing safe driving skills with regard to blindspots. I have had people change lanes and almost hit me by mistake. But i simply hit the button in the center of my steering wheel and apply moderate pressure to the center pedal and so far its worked.

gesture control is completely worthless. other than pretending its somehow convenient or easier (its not), there is zero benefit.
tpms is completely useless as well. i have never sat in a ventilated seat worth the added cost or benefit.

Unless of course you have t-rex arms and you can't reach the extra 8 inches to the knob to turn the volume. Then you know, it's worth that upgrade lol.
