The 6 series convertible and the 8 series. 2 of the prettiest in the bmw line up merge and this is born. It's nothing groundbreaking but a nod back to good design roots.

Nice but do you remember Gran Lusso Coupe Concept in 2013? It was old already in 2013. Just like Skytop now. Old concept. Nothing more.

It’s called a 2006-2008 Z4M
You can go buy one for 35,000 and no emissions fees.

And unfortunately not many bought them which is why they stopped making it.

I had one and it’s the only car I regret selling (had a kid and couldn’t afford multiple cars at the time)

I kinda like it, not really convinced yet.
Love the wheels, though you would have to take a week off just to clean those.

Very clearly a reskinned M8 Convertible, it looks more old BMW than modern BMW. Would've been great if it was 2010 and this is what they replaced the E63 with.

There's no agressiveness in the design, and it barely fits the design language of BMW today. Not an ugly car at all but you could slap mercedes badges on it and a lot of people wouldn't question it...

BMW should take note of what Mercedes is doing with “concept” cars with the limited edition Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed.

I noticed that too, looks like it could be a BMW concept car from the early 2010s.

looks like the new 8. front end is gorgeous. but no way the concept front complies with EU pedestrian standards.

Color me surprised that they are going to do another 8 series. May it have more success in this upcoming iteration.

Let’s be honest, when you look at the current BMW line up, there isn’t one model that looks this good like the 6 did or the current 8 series. I’m hoping we have new models that look this good, classy and makes you smile every time you walk up to it - other wise I’m keeping my 8 until the him/her/that/they/BLT person sings.

Looks like they just made the 8 series less attractive and cut the roof off

Friend has one, and it’s perfect. They’re out there and not too pricey. An ‘07 manual with 15k miles and no accidents sold for $42k on BAT recently (plus $5k fee).

Great design language, cueing from the Neue Klasse. Good Hofmeister kink. 4.5 out of 5.

What makes this thing go, engine-wise?

How does the moveable top work? Manually removable panels? Did they dial the design engineer at 1-800-MB-SL-from-the-1980s?

Doubt it...too expensive and massive depreciation. Always has been the case on these big BMW coupes.

Really only justifiable financially at a massive discount new or CPO.

I like it! Mainly because it looks like an original BMW design which most complain the company is moving away from. It looks classy, yet modern. I don’t think I’ve ever seen BMW use oval exhaust openings though.
