Yes it will make g80 feel dated -not a “claim”, because you know, that’s always what happens, and also; G80 came out in 2021, the new one will come in 2027.

Some of yall are wishing for too much from this thing
If it comes with the 48v hybrid system it’ll gain around 120ish lbs Stock power at crank will probably be around 575 but torque below 3000rpm will pick up a lot My guess is stock 1/4 time being mid 10s |

What's everyone think the pure electric version will cost? I would have to assume they'll try to keep it just under a hundred grand base but options will quickly put it well over that.
If it's anything like people are thinking and wanting quite sure BMW will make us pay hefty price for it.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out the next ICE M3 -
Interior will look like the new X3 interior... flat screens, less buttons, overall cleaner but also cheaper with hints of cost savings. All new gen BMWs including 5 and M5 follow this trend. Probably a variant of Idrive 9... S58 motor tied to a mild hybrid... which really means nothing other than it will be a little more responsive. I would expect 600 hp (or very high 500s) in the top tiers now given the M5 has now crossed into the 700 hp range. Weight will probably be another 250-300 lbs, I expect the car to cross easily over 4k lbs but even 4200-4300 will be very believable given trends. We won't know this for sure until we see the new 3 revealed and get a gauge of weights there.

From a business standpoint, the B58 could make sense, as it’s widely used in models like the M240i, M340i, Z4 M40i, and Toyota Supra. A 48-volt mild-hybrid B58 would also be more cost-effective, but this decision could frustrate hardcore M enthusiasts. The last time BMW placed a non-M engine in an M car—the N55 in the F87 M2—it sparked considerable debate, despite the engine’s solid performance. Choosing the B58 might make financial sense, but it could be seen as a step backward by purists. If BMW goes with the S58, they will need to ensure the engine is Euro 7-compliant, and luckily there is plenty of time to get the engine ready for a 2027-2028 M3 launch. Either way, BMW has a challenge on its hands as it balances emissions compliance with the expectations of M3 enthusiasts." https://www.bmwblog.com/2024/10/11/n...ybrid-no-phev/ I hope you are right.

As to the platform hate...meh... We win either way right? We win because we can choose to embrace it, go elsewhere or buy and older one.

This doesn't sound right. Isn't the Neue Klasse supposed to be a dedicated EV platform?

Haven’t we seen detail from insiders that 1)the s58 is planned to be eu7 compliant and 2) the g50 is going to be an evolution of the g2x chassis? Maybe it was just rumor when I read that
I am basically looking at the next gen m3 as a g80 super lci. The biggest benefit of no ice 4 series might be that the m3 should get the more conservative sedan grill setup. The latest gen Mild hybrid motor is actually integrated into the zf transmission. Quote:

The G80 M3 is the last M5 of the Mohicans. 50mm wider than the E60 M5.
F10/F90 built on the 7-serie chassis. The F80 M3 is the last M3 of the Mohicans. |

So this'll be the first EV M? Exciting. But wouldn't this mean the next M3 will also be a 'compromise' car? I.e. a car designed with the space for a massive battery and an engine block?
Hmm I guess this partially answers my question. |

Yes it is.
I did the numbers a while ago with my i4. I'm mildly interested in a M3 EV. It will be interesting.

They didn't develop a manual in that configuration. There were not that many AWD MT cars. BMW also limits HP and torque for manuals
