I couldn't care less about either guy, but people saying McGregor did great don't watching boxing or understand Floyd's style. McGregor landed 111/430 26%, Mayweather was 170/320, 54% Mayweather literally has gone 10 or more rounds with every fighter for 37 fights in a row and almost half of the 50 wins went to decision. He's a defensive fighter so McGregor lasting 10 rounds isn't that surprising. Did you see Floyd after the fight? Literally looked like he took a nap and chilled all day. Guy looked brand new. Plus, Floyd is 40 and McGregor is 29. I get that McGregor isn't a boxer, but he is a pro fighter who started out boxing and always has been good standing. All the shit talk was fake to get people to buy the PPV. I think the fight was legit, but the over under was 9.5 rounds. No one thought or expected Floyd to knock him out in 4 rounds. |

There would be very little reason to go that route, especially if there is less money in MMA. Besides, Mayweather does not want to go out with so many concussions that have befallen many boxers before him. For that kind of match, both fighters would have to be in full-contact fighting sports. Obviously Mayweather is not one of them.

Right so it's okay for Connor to do floyds shit but not the other way. Proves what I'm saying. Floyd is one dimensional and not the better fighter just boxer.

Mayweather just has no good reason to get into McGregor's ring. What would be the incentive? I applaud McGregor for this accomplishment, because he proved himself in a foreign ring. Also, he is still young, and still has a lot of fight in him, Mayweather, not so much.

first time i actually sat down to watch a boxing match
what an absolute shit show that sport is, must have been so frustrating for connor to stand there punching gloves i think having followed mma for a solid decade now, i just got spoilt with a much more technical and entertaining sport i see now why connor had no issue entering a boxing ring, there really was little health risk, the "ko stoppage" was standard connor rounds 3-5 - as per above, you'd never see floyd enter the octagon regardless of the payday or irs debt, you wouldn't get out of the first round doing the head dip cover up boxing thing |

Two very different formats of combat sports. Boxing is a very technical sport. MMA is as well. You could see from the fight, Mcgregor could fight, but lacked the technical skills of a boxer. In close range, he had zero pop. He doesn't know how to leverage and load up his punches at close range, whereas in MMA, he fights at distance (obviously, as it's a more dangerous form of fighting, smaller gloves, exponentially more ways to potentially lose a fight). Floyd felt 'his power,' and wasn't worried. He knew he wouldn't get hurt, so his plan to keep coming forward and make him uncomfortable would work.
Mcgregor did great to accept a style of fighting he really had not much experience in. I don't think he would ever make it as a boxer. Boxers train for 10-15+ years before they even get to a competitive level to make it as a pro. And let's face it, Floyd fights with his hands only with big gloves, legal hitting areas are waist up, and fights according to a specific set of rules. If he fought according to MMA rules, he would get killed in under 2 min, as he has zero experience in this form of fighting. And that stoppage saved him from a dangerous outcome. He put the referee in a position to make a decision, particularly when th ref was already biased against him due to his lack of boxing experience. Great fight. Can't wait for GGG/Canelo!! |

Lots of good fighters out there, across all weight classes. Lomachenko, Mikey Garcia, Spence, Joshua, etc. Shoot, even Cotto won a title just recently, and he's old too ha. Hopefully 1-2 of these young fighters develop a larger than life persona, could help sell boxing more. Boxing's pockets will miss Floyd. |

That said, Floyd has never lost...Connor isn't even undefeated in his own sport. The fact Floyd would lose in an MMA fight is totally irrelevant. That's not what happened or what anyone agreed to. Floyd is probably the best fighter to ever live. Connor is just a decent MMA guy that's been beat up a lot. |

To all those saying Floyd isn't a real fighter blah blah octagon, he hasn't trained to be an MMA fighter. For all we know he'd beat the hell out of McGregor had he chosen to go down that route in his career. and i for one don't like floyd.

its seems like no1 has watch MMA fight, Conor has taken worse beating.
I dont like either fighter but in MMA fight no such thing as dancing around. Some1 will have to tap out or get knocked out. this fight was for show, neither fighter got hurt and they both walked out with pockets full. Conor's loss doesnt go on his record, as he is MMA fighter not a boxer. |

Again, both humans are self promoting bastards, but you people defending Conor's ass kicking are just wrong. He didn't really do well at all, but he got paid...all that matters. Conor got his ass kicked boxing. They weren't in the octagon, so the rules there are irrelevant. He was getting his head bashed in, so the fight was called. There was plenty of time left for 2-3 more blows, but the fight was over. Floyd literally goes 12 rounds almost every time he fights, so playing with McGregor for <10 rounds is actually a huge deviation from a typical Mayweather fight. That's why people sayin "Conor did great" are stupid and have never watched a Mayweather fight. Mayweather controlled the entire fight, exectued a plan, and knocked out a guy for the first time in 10 years. He's also 40 and looks like he took a nap all day when the fight was over. |
