that’s ‘woodwind’ and if you’ve seen “wedding crashers” then you’ve already seen her. 😃

I found this Scorpion and a few more that night at a friends house on Trinity Road (Glen Ellen) at about 1200 feet elevation. Of course in the day time you won't find them out, and they are difficult to spot even if you are looking under logs, rocks or the leaf litter since they blend in so well.

From this image you see how far above the valley floor it is as my friends contemplate the smokey view that day.

Trinity is a bitch of a road! LOL. Its kinda fun as long as you don't have scaredy cats in front of you. Yeah I have been here since 2008 and I have never seen or even heard that we had scorpions around here!

Here is my favorite photo from the same property. This one was a bit larger than the last one I posted, but still relative small. This was a 6 or 7 photo stack using 2 flashes. It's not easy to get a scorpion to stay still for even one photo when you are working this close to them, let alone seven. I was lucky that day since it was very cold and rainy morning when I pulled him out from under a nice and dry hiding spot. They are cold blooded and more active when warm.

This is from an old railroad bridge that was turned into a walking bridge.
It is over the Hudson River @ Poughkeepsie, NY.

Yeah if it weren't for the military I would have never had the opportunity. Ancient Egypt has always fascinated me, so to see this in person was surreal. Because it was for the military we were under heavy watch and we were rushed through everything, so I didn't get to spend much time there which was a bummer. And with COVID we couldn't go inside.

We also got to see the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Old Alexandria Lighthouse site/Citadel of Qaitbay. We drove by the Taposiris Magna Temple multiple times but never got to stop there. They believe that's where Queen Cleopatra's tomb is, but they aren't certain.

Very cool. Have you watched Lost Treasures of Egypt? Its been very cool and informative. They found some new evidence about Tut's tomb...basically where he was found was NOT supposed to be his tomb. His successor basically rushed him to that one and took what was to be Tut's tomb for himself. I have not finished the series of shows but some very facinating stuff! I have been into Egyptology & ancient Greek & Roman history since I was a kid. Tho I don't know as much about those as Egypt

I have only seen season 1. I actually watched it again for a refresh right before I was there.

I was surprised how much the Egyptians didn't know when I asked questions. Well, either they didn't know, or couldn't put it into English. Pretty much everything near Giza is built around tourism, so I imagine over the years they folks working around there are familiar with the typical tourist questions, but maybe not much more than that.

Ah I hear ya! Its too bad...when you have something as epic as the Great Pyramids, the Valley of the Kings and just the history of one of the most advanced civilizations in all of history and to not know anything about it seems almost a crime.
