Yeah. But Times Square will never happen now. Its a pedestrian mall currently and there are really big concrete curbs and anticar flower pots that will cost a lot to be removed for F1 cars.

I don't think the logistics of holding a race (pits/facilities) in the middle of manhattan will make it financially viable. Even monaco has some harbor space to help, but just don't see any room in Manhattan.

I think it would be neat if they closed Times Square for a day or so and just had Red Bull do a demo there. Honestly it would probably be more exciting than a race there.

They should definitely do this a few months before the race. Kind of like what they did in austin with Coulthard

Let's see if anyone sues. Sounds like the Texas state gov. got hoodwinked about $25million by the organizers in Austin who probably had no right to promise that they would be the only race in the US.

Nice video... I like the Alpina B7 you were following. The roads and surrounding area needs a lot of work to get up to F1 standards. Yes it has a the NY skyline in the background, but the area looks somewhat shady. I guess it doesn't have the glitz and glam of Monaco. |

The area was a lot better than I thought it would be, honestly. It's tough to tell with just a few drive-throughs, but the neighborhood along the top of the cliffs seems solidly blue collar, yet with a slight gentrification.
The neighborhood at the bottom along the river seems to have a lot of recent mixed-use development, with many "upscale" chain establishments moving in. (PF Chang, Starbucks, Whole Foods, etc.) There's still a bunch of development gong on, so the area is a bit hectic right now, but that might all be hidden by F1 barriers and fencing. The comparisons to Monaco are laughable, but remember, there have been F1 races in the US run in casino parking lots. Still, there are a lot of road surface issues to deal with: speed bumps, depressed manhole covers and frost heaves in particular need to be dealt with before F1 cars can run the circuit. |

Its far from shady...Running Formula 1 Grand Prix inside Caesar Palace Parking lot....now that's shady man...
But there;s a lot of work on the road and infrastructures and neighborhood business to support the entire week with barriers around the street.... It does resembles montreal and Malbourne Albert Park somewhat with the trees and sweeping street curves...

Nice video. It's the "before" shot with lots of work needed to create the "after" shot. It's different than most street circuits and will definitely need a couple of DRS activation zones to encourage passing. Some corners and parts of the lower course will need widening. While I'm not a big fan of street circuits but I think F1 can put on a good show there. Would be nice to own some real estate there - not just as a spectator but also from a seller's point of view.

The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail system, here: http://www.njtransit.com/sf/sf_servl...on=LightRailTo should be a good way to access the track. Pavonia-Newport station in Jersey City to Port Imperial would be a good choice for parking near the Pavonia ave Newport station. At least 1 hotel is near the station, http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...-city-newport/ The area along Kennedy Boulevard East is very nice, at least the last time I was there, from 1967- 2000. I worked for PSE&G, the local electric and gas company during that time, retired in 2006. There is also a huge parking lot for the ferry to New York at Port Imperial, adjacent to the track. This should be a good race, hopefully a lot of repaving will be done prior to the race.
