Bad guys don't care about gun laws. If you want to be a helpful citizen during a road rage incident or school shooting being done by someone who doesn't care about gun laws, the shooting is over and people are dead before you can get to your gun and load it.

Sorry if that offends anyone.
The only that that may offend me about that is if the gun stays in the car when you get out.

Carry guns should be carried, a gun left unattended could easily fall into the wrong hands.

with very, very few exceptions my guns are either just about body temperature, or locked in a safe.

You and I are in complete agreement sir, and appear to have the same handling practices!

I RARELY leave a gun in my car, heard too many horror stories of smash-n-grab jobs involving stolen firearms.

I always carry and if there's a place I can't carry at, I don't go (if I can help it).

I don't know - I think if they get a tail gunner, they should be ok on their commute. Depends on the neighbourhood of course, they might need overwatch as well for the trifecta.

Back in 1993, my room mate and I drove to a wedding in LA (we were in Dallas). I got pulled over in Abilene, talked to the officer, got a ticket. I found out when we got back to Dallas a week later that Randy (code named "Pink" in the fraternity) had his 9mm under the passenger seat the whole trip. I wish he had told me ahead of time.

No. A good percentage of firearms used to commit crimes were stolen. I wouldn't want to become a contributor.

If I'm carrying, it's usually on me; however, I have trouble finding a spot in my car for my phone and my wallet let alone a Glock...

Please don't use your gun in a road rage incident... even if you think you are the "helpful citizen" Just let those suckers take care of themselves.

I meant more like if one of them has a gun and the other is unarmed.

I doubt guns are at the top of most thieves list of items to steal. They are easy enough to obtain legally and illegally. Not counting kids stealing them from parents gun cabinet. Stealing enough assault rifles and ammo to launch a mass shooting might require more effort than its worth smuggling all of that out of someone's home.

If some asshole gets out of his car at an intersection during a red light and starts wailing on somebody's windshield with a Louisville Slugger - I've SEEN this happen - Smith and Wesson and I are getting involved. There's no way I could live with myself if I did nothing. Doesn't matter who was right or wrong, that's no way to settle it. And the rest of the people sitting at the light shouldn't have to watch it and be terrified wondering if they're next.

That would be a bad-ass grocery-getter. Would make any place a "drive-through."

Well you're right in that the trend is showing a decrease but still, I don't ever want to be "that guy".

"Yandura reported that on Aug. 12, a day before the council meeting, an AR-15-style rifle was reported stolen from the backseat of a person's pickup truck while it was parked in the driveway of a house on Becket Drive.

The victim, who lives in Alabama, had parked his vehicle at the house on Aug. 7 before he headed to Maryland for a vacation, according to police.

When he returned Aug. 12, he noticed the $400 rifle, kept in a military case, was gone. The victim told police his car was unlocked the entire time he was gone, according to a police report."

"This year alone, dozens of guns from unlocked cars have been reported stolen in Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs and Buckhead, according to spokespersons from each department. But data shows the numbers of weapons stolen from cars are on a downward trend."

Yeah don't leave valuables in an unlocked car readily visible to onlookers.

You might want to check your state laws, most only protect your right to defend yourself. Personally, I would de-ass that area and call the cops.

I'm aware of the law. I'd likely choose to do what's right and worry about my own ass later.
