Yes, I was old enough to drink in 1981... but being New Orleans where we love to our drink, I started way earlier than that!

Legal in 1981 also. It's funny, I was always the youngest of my friends but I would walk right into clubs without getting proofed.

Thank you but I think it was my attitude. I'd walk in, head up all confident and just breeze by like I belonged there. My older friends always got stopped but they were old enough so they did get in. What the hell happened to they days of being the youngest?

I was the same. My mates were all about two years older than me but it was always me that bought the booze because they would all get refused.

Same here, and a year later they raised it to 21. Anyone 18+ was grandfathered in though.

Here too. The sign that said what year you had to be born in order to drink legally was a riot.

Thank you for the support!! I can't express how valuable that is too those in uniform.

Good eye! yes, that was an IED on my CDR's vehicle, of all targets...

Unfortunately, some of the guys in the pic I posted in my younger days are no long with us due to other IED incidents or other enemy action.

It was actually more complicated here. In 1982 they changed from 18 to 19 and grandfathered in those that were already 18. A year later, they changed it from 19 to 21 but did not grandfather those that were already 19. I was looking to see if I could find an image of the sign that had up in bars.
