And 5 of those laps he was down 136-ish hp due to no battery and traction issues since the RB is known to be slow to warm tires. Just imagine how few races Ham would have won if his prev gen MB don’t have 80-100 more hp than every other car? Max is just in another league than anyone else - and this is the most parity F1 has ever seen with restrictions for those who do the best. So really goes to show in more equal machinery Max just does it better. Based on quali Ham had the 2nd fastest car (and maybe fastest by his own admission) and Max the 4th.

Thats just how much performance advantage the Red Bull has over the rest of the field.
Thinking anything else is delusional.

I disagree. That’s just because Max is a better driver and much shorter corners vs Sai who drives a more traditional geometric apex (like Per). The former is always quicker and is worth decent time. Max also needed to wait for the tires to get to temp in the early part, combined with the battery issue he had to bide his time a bit - otherwise he’d have passed even sooner but why when you can drop them by 13 seconds in 10 laps while knowing you have pace in hand to boot?

In the hands of Checo the car is much slower. So how much comes down to the car and how much to the driver?

Perez throughout his career has been at best a middle of the pack driver.
He keeps his place at RB by virtue of being exactly that.
