It's a long story, but I'll do my best to keep it as brief as I can.

When I was a kid, I attended welding school and got the structural welding certification. I worked in the ship yards and on some high-rise buildings.

During that time, I also attended the Chuck Norris karate studio and my primary instructor was Darnell Garcia.

Darnell and I left CN to persue our own career aspirations.

Unfortunately, I had a silly little Controlled Substance mis-understanding at the Mexican border and ultimately Mr. Garcia was sentenced to some 80 years in the Federal Penitentiary for his part in all this.

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...54C0A967958260

Anyway, after I got out of prison, I decided to take a job as a welder on a high-rise project in Honolulu, Hawaii.

After I was there for a couple of weeks, I was sitting in a Japanese restaurant and parked out in front was a young guy leaning up against a Cadillac limo counting his money. I decided to find out what he was up to and convinced him to take me for a ride around the block to smoke a hooter. Long story short, 4 days later, I was in the limo business in Waikiki. My previous inclinations got the best of me however, and in short order my limo business was simply a front for pimping whores and drug dealing etc. Eventually, I ran afoul with the Honolulu Police Dept. and was asked (in no uncertain terms) to leave.

Upon my arrival in California, I secured employment with Steve Taub (owner of the Porsche/ Audi dealer in Santa Monica, Ca.)

After a year or so (and after I established myself as the highest producing Porsche/Audi salesperson in the country), I was approached by Del Montell (the BMW dealer down the street) to come to work for him. I did so and continued to work in the car business for the next several years.

Ultimately, I decided that my own business was the direction I wanted to go in and so I made the decision to go back into construction.

Today, I'm the President and CEO of a firm that provides quality control consultation services to the construction industry and laboratory testing and analysis of construction materials.

It has not been without its difficulties.

Since my "checkered past" and participation with several charity, civic and political orginizations, I've had the good fortune to be associated with many of the high rollers, movers & shakers and so-called "celebrities" in the L.A. area. I've had the pleasure of meeting with the British Royal Family for example, among dozens of professional sports athletes (Kings, Lakers, Ducks etc.) and a bunch of Hollywood "stars" among the lesser known (but financially powerful) behind the scenes players.

As an aside, I worked on Bill Clinton's first campaign, and was a financial supporter for Hillary's run for the Senate.

Here's a picture taken of HRC and I at a fund raiser in Beverly Hills, Ca. to benefit Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (when she was still First Lady) where I encouraged her to seek higher office and during our brief conversation, I assured her that the campaign money was readily available for that effort. (although now I'm having second thoughts regarding the wisdom of that declaration)
