Hey Hubba, how's everything going? They still working you? But not too hard, I hope. We don't want any more setbacks. Remember what Gramma says.
Still on schedule to be released on the 13th? We're thinking about you, brother. |

Esteban Yes sir, 2 nights to go before I am in my own bed instead of on this miserable hybrid gel/air mattress. Today was the family meeting where I learned how to slide into a car from the chair. It was all I could do to get back out of the car once I was in, I could taste the freedom. My oldest son arrived last night, and he is staying for 3 weeks to help me around the house, get to Dr appointments and therapy, etc so Mrs H can keep up with the business. I rented a Camry for his time here, not quite ready to slide over the bolsters in the M3 yet…. Outpatient therapy starts Friday. All in all, I am as ready as I can be to get out of here. It will be 7 weeks total, 12 days in ICU, 2 days on either side of that in the regular hospital, and 5 weeks in the attached Acute Rehab center.
I will most certainly NOT miss this place. I will most certainly miss some of the great people here that have taken such good care of me. Prior to this little adventure, I have spent exactly one night in the hospital in my entire life. I had no idea how caring and understanding folks in the medical field (nurses in particular) really have to be. They do great things, and they do disgusting things. All with a cheerful attitude. (95% of them, anyway. There were 2 that I hope I never see again..) Simply amazing. I couldn’t do it. I will be thankful all my life to them. Wednesday at 1:00 I am outta here! |

I know what you mean about nurses; I suppose it's like any group of people -- there's always the 2% that don't measure up. Best wishes on the final steps to getting home!

Knowing how much your guitar means to you I thought I would pass along this clip that I just received a couple of weeks ago from a friend. If this doesn't put a grin on your face and make your body boogie then you may not be ready to come home yet. This girl (yes girl -17 years old -self taught - small town in CA.) is not widely known yet, but boy! She's going to be! Enjoy! I know you will.

Check out what I got today. They’re called AFO boots. Designed to help keep my knees from buckling while standing. I tried them briefly this afternoon with the therapist, and they really seem to help. Friday afternoon a gentleman came and made casts of my legs from the tip of my toes to my knees. When he told me I could get CF design, we stopped looking at other colors. Guessing they add 15HP and 2/10ths in the quarter mile…

Glad you're out of the hospital! Ya, I don't wanna watch those types of videos, saw a YT video screencap of some toddler holding an electric, I dare not click it lest I set my axe on fire afterwards

I'm praying for your continued healing and that you got to come home yesterday.
My MIL was in the hospital for about the same amount of time as you, every time she thought she was going home something came up. She has about a year of healing left but she is out and about again and back to enjoying life. It was hard for her to see an end but it did come and now she doesn't feel it was so bad. She also went from being a terminal patient to now being on the path to full recovery. I believed in miracles before but after what we went through there is never a doubt now. Biggest thing I can say (not sure how old you actually are) is if you both are in a position to retire from your business, please do. My wife and I both own businesses and it's a time robber. Our way of life has changed after seeing the amount of regret my FIL had about not spending enough time with my MIL. It was hard seeing one of the most strong people I know being crushed and blind sided. Thankfully they both have decided to retire to enjoy what's important, time together. Don't get too frustrated, you'll be back enjoying your car soon! I'll continue praying for you and look forward to hearing about your quick and full recovery. |

I am 56, and retirement sounds great, but not in the cards yet. At least to do it like we want to. We own a restaurant, and our lease runs out in 2035. We may sell a bit before then, but honestly I think my wife would go bonkers without the hustle and bustle. I could hop on a sailboat today and live my life looking for warm water and be really happy. Most of all, I appreciate your prayers! There is amazing power in prayer, and I am lucky enough to have a huge network asking God to keep me safe throughout. I'm lucky to count you and the good people of BPOT amongst those friends! Thank you! |
