Eye-To-Eye
Eye-ToEye by David Stephens, on Flickr I shot this with the 100-400mm on the 50-mp 5DS-R, at ISO 3200, hand held. The crop is about 70% and I applied DxO's PRIME noise reduction and it still has great detail.

Here's the same guy in Panel 10987. He got so close that he was filling my frame and then he took off. The image had a little motion/focus softness, so I ran it through piccure+ a pixel-by-pixel sharpening software. It's not a total rescue, but much improved.

Thanks Mark.
Just a note for our data bases in our heads, that was 1/1600-sec. to freeze a small, fast bird, but blur the wings. I didn't really have that in mind. I was at ISO 1600 and f/8 to get needed DOF, so 1/1600-sec. became the highest speed that I could achieve without raising ISO further. The 5D4 generates excellent files at ISO 1600 and 3200, but I still try to keep it as low as I can. I knew that was a keeper, as soon as I saw the preview on the back of the camera, so I ran it through DxO's pixel-by-pixel PRIME noise reduction and then sharpened it with piccure+, which also a pixel-by-pixel adjustment. As far as I can determine, those are the two top software for those functions. I'm very happy with both.

A different kind of Squirrel. I took this photo of a Variegated squirrel from the patio of our hotel room in Costa Rica. This white and black subspecies is only found along the pacific coast of northern Costa Rica and into Nicaragua.

A quick shot from the car while driving to dinner in Yountville (Napa Valley) the other night. The train tracks belong to the Napa Wine Train.
