Personally, and this is just an observation, if track performance is low on the priority totem pole, the C8 is a much better overall car than the 992 once you factor in price/value. That they've come far enough to be able to compete head to head on quality and material against the best that ze Germans have to offer is quite an accomplishment, and for the vast bulk of the buyers, that may well be enough to sway. For those that really value the last bit of performance PLUS refinement though, that's where cars like the 911 shine. You DO get what you paid for in that the 911 is more involved to drive because it does make you one with the car, where as the Corvette makes you one IN the car. And that's somewhat true with my C7 as well. Dollar per performance, it's an insane value. And while the interior build quality and material is on par with my MZ4 Coupe, I can't help but look a the 13 year old Moupe and smile...It is a better car because it is so engaging to drive. Not that it is engaging because it is harder to drive, but the visceral response of the inline 6 with 8,000 revs per minute, the individual throttle bodies, the way it subtly tells you what each contact patch is doing, while doing what you tell it to do without jumping in and saying "nah, I got this..." But on paper, the C7 Grand Sport is so far out of the league it's not even funny. I WILL say this though. If my experience with GM and Chevy is any indication, the C8 may be great on paper, but most of that beauty is skin deep. Live with it for a week, a month, a year, and you start to question why GM does things a certain way, and understand why they were able to make the Chevy Bolt EV for $38,000 and mass produce it so much earlier than Tesla can with their Model 3. They cut a lot of corners in actual engineering, development, and material, and while it doesn't show up right away, you notice it eventually. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR.

Will be interesting to see it in bigger group tests going forward. Hell, this production delay might allow them to make some tweaks before the actual customer cars hit the lot. |

I'm not either. But you're a bit of a skipping record.

Before the C8 came out, I was arguing with a guy and I said no way GM could make a mid engine Corvette for $60K or even $75K starting. I think the guy probably was a GM insider and he told me that sure GM could because there's nothing exotic about the C8 except that this time the engine is in the middle. Inherently, the C8 shouldnt' cost more to manufacture than the C7.

I’m wondering with the OTA updates if little tweaks will be sent to cars overnight as they continue to compile more real driving data. Maybe that’s a pipe dream.

Idk... the problems people are talking about with the C8 (at least the problems I care about) are ones that don't make the car more expensive. The Camaros (cheaper) and dynamically wonderful and have great limit behavior.
I'm hoping they just pushed the car out earlier than they should have, and a couple years from now this will all be settled. As I recall, the C7 was a bit of a dynamic mess at launch, as well. Hopefully the way it drives isn't representative of a value shift since C7/6th gen Camaro.

I'm sure there will be considering the constant updating of the C7 suspension tuning. Then again, GM was charging money for those tweaks, don't know if they would release them for free.

OTAs reduce overall cost, but yes, I could see where during the warranty period they are included and then you can pay for updates after.

They charged me $350 to update my shock calibrations 2 weeks after I bought my car.

I am going to wait after the first year of production and if there are no glaring issues with the C8 I will make the transition from my 2018 M5 (F90) to the C8. I have owned more Corvettes over the past 53 years of my life. Car ownership is very subjective. Case in point I thought a 2018 Porsche 911 S/GTS was in cards when I thinking of transitioning from my 2015 M3 (F80) in 2018. Several test drives in the 911 S / GTS and I left feeling it was missing something and I could not justify the price even with a 7% discount. Don't get me wrong it drove beautifully. Now when I test drove the F90 M5 I knew it was the car for at the time. We will see how I feel once I get to test drive a C8 which will be more then likely sometime in 2020 (hopefully).
I miss my 2012 C6 Z06/Z07. I should have never sold it for the C7. The C7 had transmission issue and I transitioned to the M3 in July of 2014. I never could get use to the engine sound of the F80 and onto the F90 M5. |

Awaiting track times from tracks like Laguna, VIR, Nurburgring.... driven by pros and I’m confident this sports car is going to demolish a lot of some much more lofty sports cars just as Corvette has in the past but probably more so now with this leap forward.
A couple early questionable reviews complaining about understeer and the such but once the cars hit the tracks in earnest I think a lot of these ‘tests’ with preproduction cars driven by who knows who, will go by the wayside. https://www.motortrend.com/news/2020...-amazing-cars/

Jason Cammisa gave some Q&A directly to forum members. Worth a read if you’re interested in the C8. And the “Jason Cammisa’s a f**king hack” comments from fanboiz in 3...2...1...
