Picked up a couple of the rarer offerings of Weller this weekend. Unfortunately not at retail, but what can you do?

Here is a nice selection I had one night in Tokyo. Hakushu 12 year was better than the 18 year in my opinion. Hibiki 18 was good as well, but the Hibiki 21 year was my favorite

Anyone here ever run across a bottle of a DD that suddenly tastes different? I drink Proper 12 often and it's usually very consistent. But tonight I bought a bottle that tastes more like one of Jameson's Cask offerings, like the IPA cask. The P12 isn't bad, it's just different. I wonder if the whole batch is like this.

Honestly considering all the variables and environmental factors at play I'm surprised they can get any bottles that taste the same.

Most of the new and interesting releases I see these days are going to be store picks that are finished. I did grab the Ardbeg Scorch and like it a lot. For other interesting items I have heard rave reviews of the Russels 13y - but have not been able to locate or try it myself.

I just finished that (from Father's day) and thought it was pleasant. Next up is the 15yr Solera I got for my b-day couple weeks ago.

Grabbed this one tonight. Quite happy with it and at cask strength of 52%, it's got a strong profile. Not cheap at $100, but not too bad either.
