DCT IS auto. It just gives you the option to use the little nub and move it up/down, which when you come to a complete stop- doesn't even require you move that nub down. It's still faster than my manual though, so tomatoes tomahtoes.

I don't get why DCT owners get so emasculated by it being an automatic, just wrapped in a fancy name. It seems if that were to be an issue/ the simple solution (I would think) would be go manual. Let's put it this way....when I test drove the DCT, my friend (girl) who had no idea how to drive my 2014 m6 (or any manual) got behind the wheel of the 2015 DCT we were test driving and rode that monster, flooring it- really enjoying it. She told me I should get the DCT so SHE could drive it too Got back in my m6, tried driving it again, stall. Stall. Stall. So...it's an auto. That's faster by .02-3 seconds than the manual.

She most definitely couldn't shift. She wouldn't press the clutch all the way in before shift, so you'd hear the gear grind then stall...... I began to see red so I said ENOUGH!

I can't believe this thread became a 6MT vs DCT. First, although DCT shifts faster than manual gearbox, it is still based on Automatic Transmission. The true sequential-manual will have a foot/paddle clutch just like manual gearbox. Second, although I prefer DCT at a racetrack for faster shifting, I do LOVE driving manual gearbox (6MT).
